I enjoy most games that let me create a character in my image (or some such) and then allows me either to go around being a hero or to just fuck shit up.

I play it to screw around. I marry tons of people, kill them, and laugh as the children look at me. The story is alright, but it wouldn't be enough on it's own.
Uhh.... As messed up as this will make me sound. Probably this^^

It's also fun to equip the most powerful Greatsword and go kill hordes of screaming midgets...

I only played the first Fable. Ain't got a Xbox...

I usually play with friends, so yeah, I play for the interaction.

The games however also have a particular charm to them that for some reason I keep coming back for.

I always played it for the homo-erotic man sex partys.

While they may never have been the BEST games, they have always been good.
Fable was never "bad" by any means, and you can spend half the game in "epic lolz".
I mean, when i play fable 3, i never stop laughing, because the jokes are always perfictly timed.

I only ever played the first one, since I don't have an xbox, and I do like it quite a bit. But I'm not sure why. I think it doesn't hold a candle against the likes of KotOR, NWN and Morrowind, but for some reason I keep going back to it. I like its light setting, it feels fresh and is unique compared to all the LotR clones around. I also like how it doesn't take itself too seriously.

It's just goofy fun to be honest. Makes a nice change when compared to all the other games I play ^^

The secret to enjoying Fable is to not listen to Peter Moleneux. Do that, and you'll enjoy the Fable games. Or at least hate them a lot less.
A myth. In my opinion, at least. I played the first game and loved it to death, then I stopped gaming for like a year and a half until I saw Fable II was out. I bought a 360 and Fable II not having heard anything about the game. I just bought it because of my great experience with the first one. Then I played Fable II and it was just soooo shallow in everything it tried to do. It remains my most disappointing gaming experience ever, and back then I didn't even know the name Peter Molyneaux.

There is just something uniquely charming about it, it's hard to describe but it's got this strange monty python type humour about it. I'm all for the whole games as art arguement and love to be totally immersed in games like Bioshock and Half Life, but you know sometimes it's just far more fun to kick chickens around Albion. Like I said there's a very charming sense of humour that comes from not taking itself too seriously.
