Lag or an army of campers.

OCCASSIONALLY it's because I die over and over and over in one game, but I can only remember doing that about 2-3 times in my life.

I never rage quit but I was seriously tempted to last night while playing free roam in RDR.3 guys in a posse kept following me around and killing me for about 15 mins.Stupid fucking game kept spawning me near them so I would respawn, they would ride up and kill me,respawn and repeat until I eventually respawned far enough away that I managed to get on my horse and escape.I would have quit only I needed to do 1 last gang hideout to get the achievement

I usually rage over my own percieved incompetence and frustration, depending on the situation. However at the same time I realise that there are too many variables going on in the game (ping, latency, the people I play with, me, yada yada) and I clam down somewhat.

Then Steam says it has d/c'd when it has not and I go ape shit.

When trying to get an S rank on resident evil 5 on the hardest difficulty, and the guy who is helping you is utter shite.

The incompetence of certain n00bs, for example, in that room with the lethal light beams caused me to rage quit after being killed repeatedely by the other player.

I mean if you suck don't join a high difficulty game.

I only rage quit in single player and then only if it's because of bad controls, glitches or sheer BS. Like on Splinter Cell Conviction when the alarm sounds as soon as an enemy spots you, even though you killed him half a second after the Red arrow popped up and you're supposed to have about 2 seconds after being spotted to kill the spotter. Or in the same game if an enemy sounds the alarm, but you never got the red arrow, meaning that somehow they spotted you without spotting you. o_O

Just stuff like that.

When the host on TF2 makes it so the opposing team can only be one type of thing, but let's his/her team be whatever. I hate that.

I don't rage quit. I was playing Red Dead in free roam the other day, these guys possied up, so it was 6 vs 1, and I've never had so much fun on online multiplayer before. Hiding in the mountains, using the radar, I was kicking their asses...felt like Rambo. The best part was listening to them tell me I was crap at the game as I killed them over and over, and how satisfied with themselves they were when they managed to get 1 kill on me. F*!kin' losers...
I'm guessing they were more concerned with completing the hideout missions and other stuff rather than ganging up to kill you.
You guess wrong. They were keen to bully anyone who wasn't in the "posse", a few others were about but all disconnected, much to the enjoyment of these assholes. Draw them in close and high power pistol them if you're outnumbered, I would most likely have been shit out of luck if it was anywhere other than the craggy mountain region of the map, all in good fun.
Haha, I stand corrected then. I too have felt the pain of jackass posses whose only goal is to make the lives of others miserable. So well done sir.

Seriously though, I rage quit when I get too frustrated over dying to perform well. When in that state, I lose concentration and just die over and over again.

Rage quitting in those situations might even help the team sometimes. But really, I do it so I can calm down and later enjoy the game more.
This is why I rage quit, I know people dont like it when people just leave the game after rage quiting but honestly, Im not doing very well and its no longer fun. I come back later when I have calmed down and can start to enjoy the game again.

It always happens in Cod, their are just too many rage inducing moments in that game. Especially in groundwar when a domination map comes up and my entire team just runs past an enemy flag without stopping to capture it. I've gotten so pissed when that happens that I have broken a controller.

I sold that game for Mass Effect 2 and now live a happier Cod free lifestyle

I dont rage quit because im not a winey little *****. It somebody is using one the the "noob" setups in mw2 il just switch to my acr w/grenade launcher, rpgs, and danger close. I also have control over my emotions and dont start crying over something that happens in a video game.
you do realise that mw2 multi is based entirely on "noob setups"
Really? I play MW2 often and the so-called "noob setups" (Noobtube, OMA, Danger Close and Tac-Knife, Marathon, Lightweight) are a rarity.
i think you'll find that in your quote, chaos actually says that when someone is using noob tacts he responds by danger closing, one of the things that falls under your definition of noob tactics. you'll most likely find that all the noob setups in mw2 are tied together in a big ol' game of rock paper scissors.
And also that in the considerable period of time scince i posted this only chaos seems to have voiced any similar opininon to your's. and he hasn't done so for a while now has he?

I never said Danger Close was noobish. I said the setup of Noobtube, OMA and Danger Close is a "noob setup".

You say that there are overpowered or noob setups, and then you say they are countered like rock-paper-scissors. You are contradicting yourself.

So what's your point? You're saying my opinion is invalid because I'm in the minority?

Modern Warfare 2 is the single most rage-inducing game I've played recently, there's just so much crap goes on there.

Aside from that, its campers and people who spam the mic to call everyone "DUMBASS FAGGOTS" that make me ragequit...
Awww.. You looove campers!.. Or is that me? :/

I have no problem with campers, alot of them cant play so they are easyly outflanked or taken out with a tube.
I even camp a fair bit my self, along side with my camping-clan.
Ever encountered a whole team in a HC-TDM, who is using organised camping? DAMN people rage... Thats properly the most fun part^^

On-topic:

Hackers, modders and such really get under my skin.
Luckily iv recently gotten my hands on to a program so I can IP-ban the bastards!

The only game I ever "rage" quit on was MW2. Everything about it made me angry.

Somehow, I don't get anywhere NEAR as angry when playing BFBC2. Maybe because, just a small idea here, the IT'S A BETTER GAME.

Needless to say, I never play mw2 online anymore.

I rage-quit when some people are being annoying over mike or in text, more often over text, I know I can mute them but it's easier just to change server.

If I'm being insulted. Again, easier to change servers.

If I basically come out of spawn point and immediately get killed, this is usually more when there is a sentry at every exit or a bunch of players camping in one spot. That being said, one of my favourite things to do in TF2 is to run up, as a pyro since that's usually what I play, and flame kill the snipers then try to flame kill players when they come out of spawn. I'm a hypocrite but I usually get bored after they kill me and I don't usually do it again. :p

Or if no one, or barely anyone is playing.

I don't usually rage quit if someone keeps killing me. I don't really mind but if there is a sentry or someone sitting at every exit so I basically have to sit there killing anything that can go past.

I rage quit playing Mass Effect because I thought that the NPCs stayed dead if they died during combat instead of respawning after combat. I just kept replaying the same levels over and over again so that I wouldn't lose those characters. In my defense, I saw that first guy die and not respawn during the very first mission so I just kinda figured the rest of the game was like that (I know they did it so you could get the girl) but why not just not have him be there in the first place to avoid confusion? They could've saved me the frustration from the start if he was just one of the female's squadmates who appears and then dies instead. I've since heard that is not the case and have yet to pick the game back up again. I plan on it sometime after I finish Red Dead (I'm a little over 50% of the way through).

i never said they were overpowered (though that is often the case), and i'm not going to call people noobs if the tact they've chosen works well for them. I was saying that all the "noob" tacts combine to make it ridiculously difficult to play how it's generally meant to be.
I mean, it's a friggin circus!
this is the developers fault, not the players, Commando knifing?
come on.
