Why do you still come to the Escapist forums?

Muscle memory at this point. Whenever I open my browser I instinctively go the ZP page and look at whether or not there are any interesting threads up on the little tab. I then go to two other websites and close the browser after like five minutes only to do it all over again in an hour.

Posting in RPs is literally the only reason I come to this site anymore.

As far as I'm concerned, the place is dead, a shadow of it's former self. Other than Critical Miss, there is no other content on this site worth giving a damn about, it's glory days are behind, all the people that made this place great are either gone or retreated so far into usergroups that they might as well be.

I enjoy coming back to see old people complaining about things not being like they used to be. It's the same reason why I like to go to the old folks home on my lunch break. Did you know radio used to be better than it is now and that food used to taste better too?

There is still quality content by the site and the members are still fun to talk to. I'm not sure what more you need in a forum.

I would like to see some more video content return. Natural 20 is a fantastic addition and Yahtzee is basically money. I'd like a decent current movie video reviewer (the guy doing movie reviews is just article-based and the guy doing the old movie review is really horror movie heavy. I like his work but his genre of choice just isn't in my wheelhouse of interest. Nothing wrong with that, just not mine). Jim would be the hard one to replace on the site. Someone railing on what's wrong with the industry really requires a good combination of the right stuff so good luck on that. I also liked his movie defense force. It did have horror movies I could care less about but branched off into other interesting things too. Hopefully the current "movie defense" content creator will branch out even more than he has a couple times (like Waterworld).

But really, Natural 20 alone really has me happy that things are on the up.

Anyways, I get it, change is hard and we're in a transition right now. At least some good things are happening.

I've got a routine of about ten sites that I peruse during the course of a normal day, and this is number four on that list. In case you can't tell, I live a life of true excitement.

Largely this for me as well. Some interesting stuff crops up from time to time that makes sticking around worth it, but by and large I'm still here out of habit and nostalgia.

Migrating my RP is going to be a pain in the ass if that happens, I tell you whut. I have a json file of the first 60ish pages, but I'd need a good way to convert that to something manageable. Also, I don't think json files work well with bbcode spoilers, which quite a bit of story was hidden inside of. May just end up going page-by-page converting to PDF or something just as tedious lol.

Spoiler tags on these forums are encoded in Base64 [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base64] to avoid the contents of them coming up in, say, Google Search results. That's more likely to be the reason why the spoilers are looking bad than JSON itself.

Tend to lurk most the time, still come for the news topics and other little things would post reviews if that section didn't seem like a reply less wasteland, and RP section seems more like a small community in itself.

Usually don't read articles but swing by the news room and GD. They tend to have lastest rumors and oddities to talk about. People aren't bad, snarky but not bad.
