I don't. Well, according to someone, me having the opinion that RTS games are all the same is trolling while him saying Age of Empires sucks isn't trolling, because apparently him saying AoE sucks makes it a true fact. When will people ever make logical sense? Oh yeah, never. -.-

Can't say I troll but I certainly try and make my opinions as obnoxious as possible, to constantly test the levels of nazi present in the blood of the escapist forums, or more specifically their moderators.

weirdly they've been very lax lately.

I don't think I troll. Some people's posts might be viewed as trolling when they were simply trying to state their opinion in a limited amount of time, or they simply start out with a valid argument and run out of interest or motivation to keep going.
Then there's the "(insert subject) R KWEERZ" type of obvious trolling. Probably just someone who either needs someone to take interest in their life, or a vish-ass beatdown.
I woke up VERY hung over on New Year's Day and got fed up with Suicide Girls' myspace site automatically friend requesting me so I started a post about how hypocritical they were, and about fifteen minutes after I finished I re-read it and thought, "Wow, I'm a troll!"
Deleted it.

For the lulz.

I don't because I don't go to 4chan.
Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of how much better you are than us.
This man speaks epic amounts of truth. Everyone in this forum seems to look down on 4chan as though it's The Escapist's retarded brother or something. Let me ask you people, how many of you have been to 4chan, or at least lurked? I admit I'm a /b/tard or whatever because the website is so damn funny. People think it's stupid because 'Oh, it's just people saying the same joke over and over again'. Well yes, it is, just you have injokes with your friends.

Trust me, seeing EFG saying 'Singles get', only for his post to end in 00 is funnier than anything I have read on this site.

If you didn't understand what I just said, I have one piece of advice: lurk moar. Some of you need to pull your heads out of your asses and actually visit a site before you declare yourselves better than them.
High five! I've been saying this to all of the dumbfucks on The Escapist talking out their ass for ages now. :D
exactly, its the INTERNET, therefore it's not real, have so FREAKING FUN WITH IT.

Usually because my friend and I want to do something together, but doesn't have the potential for frustration.

Other times, it's because I can.

Trolls are looked down upon here.
Hey look, they are broadcasting themselves to be trolls. Quick, where is the mods to boot them off?
Broadcasting themselves to be trolls is not against any rules. Trolling is. Until they actually troll these boards, nothing can be done. I, for example, troll a small fan forum on occasion. Usually when I'm unable to post here, but I've not been for a while...

Course, that's not counting the habbo raids ^_^

Cuz sometimes the only attention people can get is by aggravating everyone into looking at them.

I can't lie. I've done it occasionally, more to play Devil's Advocate than specifically to piss people off. Sometimes it is just very dry humour that is intended as a joke, but taken really seriously by some people. I do that just to remind them that they will die one day and not to get so wound up by some things, often they are good sports when they realise I'm playing but some get really arsey. Can't please everyone.

But doing the whole HALO IS BETTER THAN HALF-LIFE! FUCK ALL YOU HALF-LIFE FANS!!!!! thing isn't really for me.

But if they are true trolls then we know they are going to go off and start trolling the threads. Surely we would want rid of them now rather then later after they've already spoilt things? Or is that just how i would do it?

And yet you have one for an avatar. Hah! That works on two levels.

Just because trolling isn't allowed on the forums doesn't mean shit.
I am a troll in real life, and I am only a minor one. I know one life-troll who INVENTED a person that never existed, said that person KILLED himself, and got his high school associates to think they KNEW this guy.

Trolling is just damn good fun

You know when people say that you shouldn't argue an idiot, because an idiot will just drag you to his level and claim victory?

Fuck that.

Smart person is smart enough to be better at stupid than morons are, and beating one in their own game is like playing tic-tac-toe with a kid.

Someone starts whacking you with a stick, you don't start lecturing about the pointlessness of random violence. Just go and grab bigger stick, jump right in and gracefully land a blow in the nuts.

1.) To me, trolling is a mean, racist cousin to "griefing" and griefing IS FUNNY... sometimes. (I don't partake, but you can't tell me you don't laugh when you think of Ventrilo Harassment's "OVER 9000 THOUSAND?!"

2.) The whole "man behind the mask" thing is... kinda appealing... for all we know this is *quickly looks for a popular poster* someone's alt. account. Just made for the lulz to say things they wouldn't want to say as their main face.

That might be how you would do it, but you'd have something of an uprising on your hands if you did. Personally, I would never (intentionally) troll these boards. I might have shed a few sparks at a Turbine fan here or there, but I wouldn't go out of my way to troll (thread creation, alternate accounts, that sort of thing). If I don't troll these boards but admit I do elsewhere, I'm still inside the rules.

If you will, it's like the Dutch "Hash Tourists". They are people from countries in which marijuana is illegal, and they travel to Holland (where it can be legally sold and smoked in certain areas) with the express intention of getting high. Now, a person saying to a UK official "I smoked pot in a restaurant" would be admitting an illegal act, and they could be fined on that confession. Because they smoked it in an area which it is legal, there has been no crime, so no action can be taken against them.

You follow?
