Why does Escapist have anime reviews?

Anime is still a small percentage of the content, and it never even gets featured.

Not so small I would say, trying not to look rash but... The Escapist doesn't have economic 'reviews' of the game market, or cover much news over the development of engines related to gaming, but it has anime reviews?

And it is visible how an amount of the community is far more interested in 'animes/games' than 'just' games (please don't take it as an insult)

Not to nitpick but since avatar is american made it is animation not anime. If people refer to anime it is animation coming out of japan. It did boorrow a lot from the asian culture and tried to bland anime and american amination styles but it still is animation, not anime.

It makes years now that I have been a reader of the Escapist magazine and some of its columns, even so only became a former member of the community some months ago, and it kind puzzled me the fact of it have an specific space to anime content.

What does the theme have to with the rest of the site content? I understand that the site tries to innovate itself, like it including movies reviews ( I was very 'worried' when the first got out), but I frequent the site because it was focused on the game industry, and it 'worries' me that it stops to be...

A couple of months ago they even posted a listing for an Escapist editor dealing with non-games material. Expanding to include geek culture is fine and isn't going to hurt anyone.

I agree with you, it's not related at all.

The "lots of gamers are into it" argument just doesn't fly. More gamers reading this probably like food or heavy metal than Anime but The Escapist doesn't review restaurants or the new Slayer album.

That said, a music review would be nice. I'm pretty sure MovieBob likes metal, maybe they could get him to do something?

Also, I haven't noticed any anime reviews, am I being stupid or do they not tend to put them on the front page?

I don't really watch anime, but I'd like to. I used to watch Kenshin, Dragon Ball, and Miyazaki films as a kid, so that concept stuck with me.

The only way I can really watch it is to:
A: Use some sorta-shady sites that I don't want to mess with.
B:Get the discs off of Netflix, and never watch them, because I'd have to use my computer for that.

And, buying DVDs is expensive, so purchasing an entire show would suck if I only watched a few episodes.

Nah, it's because there's quite a big intersection between the fan bases and because an increasing number of users here aren't really into gaming enough to want a pure gaming forum.

Well, anime is a form of escapism, just like videogames and movies. I don't see why we shouldn't include it; particularly seeing how the gamer-demographic tends to overlap with the anime fan-demographic.

While I don't like anime myself, the site is called "The Escapist", not "The Escapist that only relies on games as escapism". The site is all about escapism. Escaping the drudgery of daily routine to sit down, relax, have fun, and maybe even learn a thing or two. The site does have a video game focus, but what I just mentioned is the reason you'll see movies, anime, TV news, and a pumpkin being dropped from 2 meters.
