Generally the reason the world says they hate the US of A is because you, and mean this as a gross generalization, believe you are 'the shit'. Trying breathing down everyone's neck telling them that they need you. See how many times you get punched in the face.
And when did we ever do that. When has any official representative of the US ever directly told another country that without us, they are nothing? You could be speaking about our people who say those things, or maybe the actions that we take as a country, but I highly doubt you could name a single instance where America was the equivalent of some guy at your office screaming that without him, you would be useless. (To reference Lewis Black)
Its not so much that you guys actually DO this, rather that its your country's constant attitude, or at least that's how it seems. And your politicians and news media are the ones who feed this (John McCain, Bill O'Rielly, George Bush, etc.). Now I'm from Canada, and I'll say for myself its largely the cultural backdrop of the USA that bothers me, and I think if you look at it, it should for you too.
Your culture is one of greed. Lets be honest with ourselves, America's royalty are the merchant elite. Examples include the Rockafellers, the Kennedys and of course the Bush family. Personally, I don't blame Americans individually for their culture. What I do blame people for is that they don't try, in my view anyway, to rise about this and be better than this. Of course, I've met a number of good Americans, ones I liked and got along with (most of these are ones who moved to Canada, lol) and at least one was what I would call a fairly typical one (New Yorker).
The only other point I could try to make is how ignorant your population is, but I'm of the opinion that PEOPLE ARE STUPID, so I just blame the human race for that.

k

and that same culture allows people who have nothing to rise up. how many other countries bleed opportunity as profusely as the us? theres a reason so many people around the world come here, and regardless of what you may think america is still one of the bezt ciuntries to come to if you want opportunities.

And I also find that it is true in the article that the reason you don't hear a lot of bad things about places like Europe, Canada and Australia is that their media and culture just don't like to talk about them as openly as the US.
I dunno about anywhere in Europe or Canada but in Australia we talk quite openly about the problems in our country. There are 2 main reasons Australia's bad side doesn't get all that much coverage outside our borders - we have a small global media footprint and we don't make a huge bloody stage production out of everything.

The notepad although probably overlooked when thinking about greatest inventions is actually pretty great, so good thinking Australia.

Also, America invented the electric guitar.

I have no Idea why, many say were full of ourselves or something stupid. I used live near Yosemite and the tourist form Germany, Britain, and Australia were rude, loud, and messy. I had one lady stop in the middle of the fucking road get out of her car and shout at me "ROYAL OAKS, TELL ME WHERE ROYAL OAKS IS NOW". I was on break on just trying to enjoy my smoke and when I got thrown off by the question she called me stupid and went to the near by parking lot to go harass the other locals. Leaving her car in the road pissing off everyone else.

Also I'm not sure why everyone is bent out of shape about us not having "free" healthcare. I and many other Americans get by fine with the private sector. Its not like you'll get kicked out of a hospital for not having Health insurance either they will treat you.

All and all I would say its mostly because the foreigners on this site are just plain rude and full of themselves. They're everything they say they hate about us Americans.

Because you have no health care system, because your education system sucks, because you have a "bible belt," because our government models many of its policies on the ludicrous decisions of your dumbass leaders, because you are spending billions of dollars and roping other hapless countries into a foolish drug war, and because you are a modern empire that your leadership and electorate have clearly proven that you don't deserve and aren't responsible enough to have in the first place.

That's why.
We have a health care system: Medicaid, Medicare, the military's health insurance, insurance for government workers, and recently we passed a bill to cover a whole bunch of people. Oh and many wealthy people from outside the US will come here to get treatment from the best and brightest in the medical field.

I don't see why a "poor" education system is a reason to hate people from a country, how about people from countries that have little to no schools? Do you hate them for it too? Also the study/ies that list(s) the education of the world's nations doesn't have any ties and, as far as I have seen, doesn't show the actual scores so being way down on the list doesn't mean all that much. For example if 42 countries scored higher than an A- and 10 countries, one of them being America, scored an A-, then America could be listed anywhere between 43rd place and 53rd place while still having done fairly well.

I am not sure what you have against the "bible belt" when Europe has a "bible boot" aka Italy.

As for all that jazz about our politics we are a young country, we are still trying to find our identity as a nation and as a people. If I go and look at your country's actions across history I am sure I would find plenty events that were much worse.

Lewis Black put it best, I think.

THIS. So much this.

OT: I think part of the problem is that right now we're the big guy on the world stage, so A) we look like a big bully (and we kinda are), and B) everybody blames the big guy for their problems. People, all over the world, like to focus on the bad one does, and ignore the good and take it for granted.

Plus we're filled to the brim with argumentative idiots that don't know how to run a country, and our cultural/social/political divides have gotten so bad our government can barely function anymore.
You see, when certain Americans say they "hate America" what they, more often than not, REALLY mean is "I hate the part of America that doesn't agree with my idea of what America should be".
We're so filled with hate and animosity towards each other that we protest the protesters and destroy peoples lives for one small mistake because he had the gall to think differently than you.

...But, anyway, you nearly lost me when you started tossing around the word "elitist". Next time I suggest not making your chosen political side quite so obvious, or people might be inclined to hate you for it before you get any intelligent answers back.
