As proof to how silly it is, when you're an Engineer and you build a dispenser. He enthusiastically yells
"Erecting a dispenser!"

I don't find it funny or fun. but I've only played it on the 360, so I can't really say anything unless I try the apparently much better PC version with all the updates and such.

Definitely the humor and the atmosphere. Its just a well done light hearted shooter, and in my opinion only gets better as it gets crazier.

Like my one awesome time involving a dice rolling for buffs modded server. And getting low gravity on a heavy, and getting 7 kills from the peak of my now 30 foot jump. Wouldn't like this stuff in any other game though.

I own it due to Orange Box but I have never played it because it looks so dull and boring... I hear so many good things, though, that I think I should try it soon. We'll see.

Honestly I loved TF2 up until specific patches. When they added in hats I died a little on the inside because then the community started bitching about them nonstop, and they still are. The most resent patch with community designed weapons and hats also is a huge disappointment for me. The weapons are terrible, the hats for the most part don't fit the character design that was there to begin with, and I can honestly say that right now I really don't like TF2. I think if Valve is even toying with the idea of a TF3 that they need to think about what made TF2 great in the beginning. Specific class roles, delightful characters, great maps and modes, and a wonderful art direction. Some may disagree with me, but right now TF2 is no where near as good as it was before the two patches mentioned above.

I think there are Vanilla servers where you can play(Original, like when the game had just barely started, no new weapons and the such), I can see why people don't like the new weapons and stuff, but I honestly love the hats, no matter how fucking useless they are.

It's not serious. Like EVERY other shooter. Besides I always play the Aussie sniper which I can do the accent flawlessly

Who said Everyone here likes that game? I played it and found it extremely annoying and slightly rediculous.

I am in no way knocking it, I love it, but why does every single person seam to like TF2 on this site? I really have not seen so many TF2 fans on any one site then this one. Is it the humor? The fun gameplay? Do you just find the Heavy? What do you guys love about it and makes you all play it?
Kinda answered your own question there.

I think it's because TF2 takes itself seriously in some areas like technical standards and depth of gameplay/balance, yet knows when to just have some fun in other areas.

Because TF2 has no frags or assault rifles.
Also out of the 9 classes only one class (the sniper) tries to get headshots. The other classes use different tactics to kill enemies.

Because TF2 has the 4chan Party Van server. It's really the only reason why I have so many hours on TF2 and why I play TF2 whenever I'm feeling down. The insane fun you can have there, with people playing awesome music and playing on unique maps is great.

Plus, I enjoy going on there and playing Cirno's Perfect Math Class while saying "Eye'm the strongest!".

I know people who have never played either TF2 or Portal and yet love them.

It's the stylish art direction, colorful characters and offbeat zany humor that draws them in.

Because it's billed as a funny game, and still manages to stay rich in gameplay. The tone is light and the gametypes are enjoyable to play on a bored night. It's like a competitive party game. Kinda like a new Counterstrike.

I don't. I fucking hate it. I could say many bad things about it, but there is no need. Many do like it though, and that's cool. To each their own.
