because it's sony that's why.
I just don't like sony consoles.
sure developers have made great games for sony consoles but that's only proof of their skills.
I hold a grudge so let me be....

AND, why the f-sauce didn't they release an expansion for Fallout 3 on the PS3??????? Not cool. >.<
Because it is far too expensive, huge and lumberous and why have one when you can settle for a cheaper, more versatile console?

XBOX 360 FTW.
Thank you Hannahdonno for basically proving his point.

People don't like the PS3 because of it's cost (both of the console and to develop for it). Plus the lack of backwards compatibility killed it for a lot of people. I mean c'mon most of us own/ed a PS2 and remember it had amazing games. Fanboys are just blind followers, they feel they have to defend their console of choice.
Also Fallout 3 will not get any expansions on the PS3 because Microsoft paid for exclusive rights on the 360.
As I have just said to another poster, I was attatched to my PS2, but the PS3 made me want to hurl every Sony based product I own out of the window. If you actually take everything into consideration, the 360 is technically better.
From a technological stand point, no.
I will admit it has a majority of better games though. I actually don't see anything wrong with the PS3 other than it's being under supported (opposite of the Wii which is being over supported just not by very many good developers). Well I guess there is some bias in my reasoning since I have a backwards compatible PS3.

I would say anyone that claims they hate the PS3 is most likely just a 360 fanboy.

I love my PS3, mostly due to the fact that it doubles as a console and a Blu-ray movie player.

Personally, I don't need a 360 because I have a great PC... and all the decent games that you can get on 360 are usually available for the PC as well, so I don't have much use for one.

For me, the PS3 may have a limited amount of games compared to the 360, but it has all the major titles I want, so it works out perfectly.

Whether or not it is more expensive, and you can factor in all the Wii and 360 addons to reach an equivalent price all you like, it LOOKS more expensive sat on the shelf next to a 360 or Wii, therefore, parents, given the chance, are going to choose one of the other two consoles.

When a non gamer parent is holding the purse strings, unless that kid has some serious persuasive powers, the cheaper console(s) are going to be the ones selling better.

I still also maintain that Blu Ray was at least a generation too early and not necessary for the PS3's success, I understand that DVD really helped to push PS2's success, but I don't think the world is ready to go HD yet, remembering that we're mainly tech savvy gamers here, and the 'regular' people are less likely to rush out for new kit.

Personally for me, tho, even if Sony had got an exclusive for GTA IV, I'd have lived without the damn game, I just plain can't afford to buy a console for a few games, whereas I'd say 95% of games come out for at least PS3 and 360, and so I'll go the side of 360.

At present, the PS3 is £289 at play.com, and the basic 360 is £125, I know that's an unfair conparison, but that's what the uninformed parent will see, and the basic 360 is quite capable of playing games out of the box still.

Note, I don't 'hate' the PS3, I just feel it came too early, too expensive, and bundled with an unnecessary piece of kit, which if left out, would have left Sony with a console around the price point of the 360, and technically superior. As it is, they're asking you to choose between PS3 or a 360 AND a Wii, or either and a pile of games.

In fact, surely, if they'd dropped the Blu Ray, they could have spent a small part of that installing the PS2 hardware on the board, giving it full compatibility with the entire Sony back catalogue.

Without wishing to sound like a Luddite, do we really need more than 9GB on a game disc, unless you're making a Metal Gear or Final Fantasy game, and even then, don't change the hardware, slap the FMV and plot people until they get it under control.

That was one of the things that made me want to get a 360 (that and the custom soundtrack for any game) but the thing that drove me away the most was the RROD.

That and I was able to get Mass Effect for the PC.

Two reasons:

$ upon release
& the absence of the game library they used to have on the PS and PS2.

I'm getting tired of all this 'console hate' towards all three of the major systems right now. I don't see a point in people waving their metaphorical dicks around proclaiming that "their" console is the best. I don't own a PS3, but I don't hate it, it is a fine machine. The only problem it has is the same problem I've noticed with the 360, there are hardly any exclusives. I don't recall ever having an argument with my friends over the SNES and the Genesis back in the 90s, so when I see people arguing about video game consoles I just have to scratch my head in amazement.

I didn't mean techincally actually meaning technically... I'm confusing mysellf now. Yes, the backwards compatibility was an added bonus, but now they are very hard to come by. And yes it may be technically quite good, but it could be argued its TOO good. No one can be bothered making games that use the PS3's true potential and is there any point having a really good console thats just going to gather dust, due to the lack of good, exclusive games?

And they could have made more of an effort to change the pad |:

everyone hates it because it's fashionable to do so. i just won't buy one because a) i'm a student and cannot possibly afford it, b) it has no games that i want or care about and c) i can get along just fine with my PC and 360. i don't care for it's "better" hardware or the blu-ray drive. it doesn't really have anything else going for it in my view

I also don't understand the complaints over price. Sure it's expensive, but it's cheaper than buying an XBox 360, a wireless adaptor, and a Bluray player seperately.
That's assuming that everyone would want a wireless adapter and a BluRay player. I want neither... I hooked my Xbox in with a $12 length of Ethernet cable, and my 26" TV doesn't really spark a desire to pay an extra $10 a movie for the extra image density.

Besides, I buy platforms for the titles they support and not the other way around. I bought the 360 because of Halo and Gears and Dead Rising and the Arcade. The PS3 has a lot of good hardware, but the titles just don't draw me as much as the Xbox's did.

Other than that though, any serious gamer should probably own both if they're truly serious.
Had I an unlimited game budget, I'd have all three consoles and a kickin' PC rig. I don't, so I concentrated on the platform that matches my tastes the best. If that platform isn't the one you would've picked, well, my choice doesn't prevent you from choosing differently.

I don't have a PS3 because by the time it actually started to get good games I convinced my self that console gaming is not worth it over PC gaming.

My 2 cents:

I have more games for the XBox360. XBox360 players are achievement, um, junkies. :)
I like the games I have for the PS3 better than the XBox360 games.

The factors that make people whine are: PS3 doesn't play all the PS2 games, XBox360 plays most of the XBox games. The PS3 is more expensive due to the technology, the XBox360 does most of the things a PS3 will do, just not at the same technological level. I like having 1 HDMI run from the PS3 to my 7.1 CH receiver which has one HDMI cable run to the 1080P wide screen TV. You cant do that with an XBox360.

Everyone has a reason for liking one and disliking the others. I like them all for the things they do. If one console doesn't do everything I want, I buy the one that does. But, not everyone can do that, and there is yet another reason for dislike being directed to a console. When you can't afford it, you resent it.

I think it has much better exclusives than the 360, but I'm a PC gamer who doesn't get to play things like Valkyria Chronicles, Flower, God of War, LBP, etc. FFXIII looks odd, that Gundam game has some promise, and I'd like to try Flow as well.

I find that most exclusives that come out on the 360 get ported to PC eventually, and it's usually shit I don't wanna play anyway (halo, gears of war)...

Since I never had a PS2, I'd get to appreciate another huge list of titles, but no matter.

I'm not buying one anyway, but I personally feel that it would go PS3 > Wii > 360 when it comes to exclusive titles...

If I only had to have one system, however, it might be a 360 for the better online play, and because I could borrow games from all my 360-owning friends, and play stuff with them.

However, a PS3 seems to have plenty of things I love, and it's supposed to be supported for a longer period of time, so we'll see. It might convince me to buy one when God of War 3 comes out. :p

I still play a lot of PC RPGs: Mass Effects, Oblivion, Fallout 3, if you have a good graphics card it is the way to go, I like big draw distances.

If you get the 60 GB X-Box 360 you are getting the new motherboards and smaller manufacturing process chips so your chance of a Red Ring goes way down. I wait until the 60 GB version until I bought and I am very happy.

The biggest plus of the PS3 is the Blue-Ray but I have that on my PC so kind of hard to justify it for just that.

I believe it's mostly because the PS3 is under supported in terms of North American game exclusives (if you include games that released in Japan and never came out here, the PS3 HAS more exclusives). Another point could be is when a game goes multi-platform, the developing company just develops for 360 (with exceptions such as FFXIII) and copies and pastes onto a blu ray disk with little changes causing some graphical glitches like frame rate hic-ups and longer load times. Lastly, it is true that you do need a HDTV to notice the full visual treat the PS3 is, and not everyone does. I on the other hand do so lucky me.

As did this. Though for totally different reasons.
