So I own a PS3 and it seems like it is getting shunned by the world of gaming. Everywhere I go there is always a Microsoft fan boy telling me how much the PS3 sucks. Don't get me wrong, I've met some PS3 fan boys and the are not any better, but why is the PS3 the scum of the universe? Maybe it is just demographics, or maybe I just don't know enough people. AND, why the f-sauce didn't they release an expansion for Fallout 3 on the PS3??????? Not cool. >.<
Because it is far too expensive, huge and lumberous and why have one when you can settle for a cheaper, more versatile console?

XBOX 360 FTW.
and because most of them are people who don't play anything BUT halo and think that is all there is to gaming.

Some are just Microsoft fans and will swear by it no matter what.

Personally, I prefer PS3.

True for both the PS3 and the 360. It's really why the both the PS3 and the 360 are getting their ass kicked by the Wii. Blu-ray isn't this huge innovation, it's just a disc with more space. That's really no more an innovation than thumbdrives getting bigger.

It's not a 360 only problem that a lot of the big titles are FPS games. This really holds true for the PS3 as well. Today, everybody and their mom is doing an FPS.

But really, I don't really think I need HTPC features when I already have a HTPC in my house. The thing I have plays the movies, is a web/ftp/mpd server, let's me browse the web and edit my documents, produce music and play Crysis and/or Dwarf Fortress and/or Spelunky if I want to. If I don't need to do any of those, I can render some 3D animation for fun and profit. Do I really need a device that duplicates the features of that, poorly to boot? No, I don't think I do.

The PS3 at current offers very little to me. I don't hate the thing, it's the supposedly more intelligent PS3 fan that is really the problem.

Supreme Commander and SoaSE are faster than Starcraft, just the games take longer. In starcraft there is a lot of waiting around for nothing. I'm not saying every game has t be speed matches, but when you're sat doing bugger all, that's when something has gone wrong.
Uhhh...what? When was the last time you played Starcraft? An average match in that game takes 30-45 minutes. Within that timespan you've set up your base, expanded, researched everything and had fierce fights all over the map. The "twiddling your thumbs" phase only takes about the first minute or so till you have enough resources to start pumping out troops.

In Supreme Commander, 30-45 minutes is really how long it takes for you to set up your base. We haven't really gotten to the rest of the game yet. Chances are you're going to spend far more time twiddling your thumbs in that game than in Starcraft, really.

I like my PS3, it is my primary DVD player, with an occasional blu-ray.

But other than that, I don't see any reason to play games on the thing in favor of the 360.
Most of it's exclusives are pretty mediocre, and the majority of the multiplatform games are just generally better on the 360. That makes me sad, paying out of the ass for a system that will give you a worse experience compared to it's cheaper counterpart. It just does not make sense.

And for playing online with friends, well, let's just say that the PS3 has a lot of catching up to do. It is only free because charging for it's current status would be a crime. It feels like i am back in the stone age when I want to play a game with some friends on PSN.

I will not sell my PS3 because I have some hope for the thing in the future, but I just know that when that time comes, I will already be playing even better games on the Xbox "720".

Mostly due to a significant lack of anything making it worth buying, and because PS3 owners tend to think they are superior due to better hardware.

I still don't even understand the confusion people are having over the PS3. It has it's purpose. It's not suppose to be a hardcore gaming machine like the XBox 360. It's a multimedia console.

I also don't understand the complaints over price. Sure it's expensive, but it's cheaper than buying an XBox 360, a wireless adaptor, and a Bluray player seperately.

I think the biggest draw the PS3 has to a serious gamer is the fact it's a lot less likely to break down over the XBox 360. Other than that though, any serious gamer should probably own both if they're truly serious. Else they're just hypocrits. And you call yourself a gamer...
I know this is the first page and this thread has hit eight by the time I got here, but seriously.

Honestly I just have so few words for this topic.

"WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT OTHERS THINK ABOUT THE PS3?"

If people don't like it, fine. If you like it? Fine. It just boggles my mind why people feel the need to ask why, only to get flamed by people who like the box more then the station. Then you have the random pc fanboys whom you know is going to run in here at the smell of blood like the sharks they are and drop "Consoles are stupid, pcs are teh wins!" bombs everywhere.

It just turns into a mess of a topic, with that good old middle eastern powder keg feel. You know something is going to explode....maybe by bombs around peoples' waists...

I think if the PS3 came out first, people would be making "why does the 360 suck" threads instead.
Given what the PS3 can do, if the release dates were reversed we'd have "What the fuck is Microsoft doing re-releasing the original Xbox?" threads.

As I've said, the only thing the 360 does is play games... and most of the 'big games' seem to be FPSs at that. The PS3 can play games to... but it also plays Blu-ray, allows you to surf the net, lets you store music and photos, lets you stream stuff to your PSP, can be set up to interact with your PC... in short, it behaves far more like a PC than a traditional console, and I think that's where consoles have to go.

The 360 is just like it's flagship game series; hyped up, well presented, but brings nothing new to the table.
I didnt need to counter argur because i'm not trying to argue with you, fanboy

you are sticking up for the PS3 pretty hard witch shows me the lack of confidince you have in the console you have selected.

MGS4 and LBP sucked, I own ALL PS3 exclusives, stop selecting different parts of my "arguement" and read it as a whole.

No people wouldent make "why does blah blah blah" threads because the only thing that matters is the games, and like I said why would i get a muli-platform (in this case lets use CoD for an example) game on a console that has laggy connections, I swear its like going to war exept everyone moves from where they are to 3 feet ahead of them.

And the 360 stores music photos and video, not to mention hi-def streaming from netflix to your console. and while I will admit Microsoft cons you out of 100 bucks for a new HDD its well worth it in the end

Now young fanboy stop arguing with me and go away

The PS3 is what the PSP isn't. And I love that masterpiece in shining black armor.

Makes me wish I had it in silver though.

Copy & Paste the "pot kettle black" comment.

Correction, a dogged determination to put down imbeciles who can't back their claims.

MGS4 and LBP sucked, I own ALL PS3 exclusives, stop selecting different parts of my "arguement" and read it as a whole.
Your whole "argument" has no content. That was my point. I provide evidence, you provide sheer idiocy. You need evidence to back your claims. You have yet to do so, because you have none.

Funny, the only time I lagged was when my wireless router was dying... not the PS3's fault.

Okay, Metal Gear Online lags... but that's due to very bad server planning by Konami. Again, not actually the PS3's fault.

And the 360 stores music photos and video, not to mention hi-def streaming from netflix to your console. and while I will admit Microsoft cons you out of 100 bucks for a new HDD its well worth it in the end
360 120GB HDD = £100 or more.
PS3 compatable FIVE HUNDRED GB drive = £80.

To call it a con doesn't really come close mate...

It really doesn't help that your messages are half evidence, half idiocy themselves. Halo 3 might not be your cup of tea, it might not be the best shooter around, but calling it "the shittiest shooters around" (your words, not mine) means you really aren't any better than the imbeciles that you so like putting down.

I refuse to play Halo, it is possibly the most over-hyped game EVER.

People slagging eachother's consoles is hilariously pathetic.

We all like games, surely there's no need to be so ridiculously petty and start squabbling like a bunch of little girls fighting over who has the best barbie doll.

I got news for you: other gamers are not the enemy... save your flames for the ones who condemn your passtime and try to blame it for all of society's ills.

I have a 360 and a PS2 and they have both given me many happy hours.
This man speaks truth. Listen to him. For he... ahh, who am I kidding this topic is just going to continue to up in flames. Everybody outside of video games seems to be against us and who can blame them when even internally we're against each other.

Good graphics are not a replacement for good story. The PS3 focuses so much on graphics that im sure real life is pixelated more than the HD-glory of the PS3, but that does not mean im buying that kid-console wii

I don't hate it but I have to admit that playing certain games like BioShock, I notice many more frame-dips, longer loading, that install BS, and plenty of lag... I also notice that loading people's Gamertags takes forever...

To be honest, you could make a topic every few days about any of the three consoles and you'd get pages and pages about what's wrong with them, because they all have their flaws. There's no real point to console wars except to show everyone how much cash you've invested into a hobby for geeks - and let's be honest, we're all geeks here.

The PS3 gets hate like the Xbox gets hate like the Wii gets hate. Whether it's an insanely high price point, constant hardware problems, or a kiddie game library, there is always something to hate about any of the three consoles, and any perception that one or the other is hated is just that, perception.
