Why does it make me feel depressed? No clue.

Search bar approved... I think (Knowing me, I probably screwed it up somehow).

Well, I just finished watching Eureka Seven (which is a very good anime by the way) and for some reason, at the end after the world was saved, the bad guy dies, the hero got the girl and all that... I felt sad and depressed for absolutely no reason.

This isn't the first time either, other movies and shows have filled me with the same inexplicable sadness, such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Return of the Jedi, FF7 Advent Children, all these and more have me close to tears, even though they have happy endings!

So this I ask you, which endings in movies, games or anything have you reaching for that box of tissues?

FIRST!
(sorry, but it's my first-time first!, so i just HAD to do it; now would you kindly forgive me)

actually, none; sometimes it just makes me kind of crazy when a really good movie (the kind of you could watch for a looong time) or series ends, and i just HAVE to watch more of it, BUT there is no "more of it", because it is F***ING OVER

damn

my eyey only get watered a little bit when something REALLY epic is going on, e.g.: in Troy when Patroklos and the Myrmidons enter the battle at the shore (epic because of the music and the way they ran), or the sheer awesomenessness of a movie like (no, actually there is no movie like it) Wall-E, or when the heroes are about to kick thad guy's(') ass(es) with much much skill and just wrath, rather than luck (e.g.: Four Borhters) (mind you, in general, i liker the bad guys, but sometimes tey are pictured as stupid dickheads, with no finesse and agenda other than "i iz badazz so i killz u"), or when someone just shows of some real nice skill (e.g.: in SWAT when they had to proof how good they were in the simulated plane hostage situation, because they pwned! the dickhead boss of theirs)

Cruel Intentions - not cried, but shed some tears... does that make me less of a man? Because if so I shall roast a bear over open fire right now!
And a scene from Pokemon. But that was a decade ago.

Its probably the same reason as the recent "pandora effect" from avatar - Your mind realising reality isn't as awesome as it could be...If its not an active thought its bubbling in the subconsciousness. (Just a thought)

OT...Been a few, but none recently I don't think...First play through of ff7 had me brimming.

The end of Mass Effect 2 had me feeling down. I'd grown to like the characters and the interactions and the very colourful universe that Bioware had created, but I knew that it was over, until the sequel comes out.

My fiancee is like it too - she won't complete a Zelda game until she knows the next one has a release date, to minimise the sad time 'between Zeldas'

Yeah happens to me a lot. I remember the first time it happened to me, it was when I finished reading the last book in the Young Jedi Knights series. After about 14 books it was over and I felt really empty. This was about 7-8 years ago though.

... Could it possibly be that you are sad because you were really enjoying that show/movie/whatever, and now it is over?
Because I can understand that. Sorta.
I always get horribly disappointed when something I loved the crap out of ends.

I don't cry, though. I never cry.
Well, I did about a month back after getting really hammered. But that was the first time in half a decade.
I sure as hell aren't going to be moved to tears by something fictional.

Same here. I was so sad when that game ended I almost cried. I can hardly wait for the sequel.

It's depressing because:
a)You're sad that it's over.
b)You're sad because no one died (possibly you crave drama).

I don't cry, but I oozed masculinity out of my eyes at the end of Pan's Labyrinth and at the part in Click where Adam Sandler kept rewinding the part where his father said he loves him.

Certain endings to TV series make me depressed knowing that I'm witnessing the end of something grand. Like the finale to Star Trek Next Gen, DS9, or Voyager, or seeing a beloved show end like Scrubs or Friends.

As for making me reach for a box of tissues, only three movies have ever made me do that.
1: My Dog Skip. (If you can't cry at the scene before the end, you are a robot.)
2: I Am Legend. (You know which scene I'm talking about. I'll avoid spoilers to those of you who haven't seen it.)
3: Empire of the Sun. (Once again, no spoilers, but the ending had me in tears.)

I used to get sad after completing games when i was young. Kind of like "aww i ran out of adventure :c".
Might have been partly down to me not having money for games too. Completing a game didn't necessarily mean moving onto the next :p

The end of Fire Emblem had me crying.

The characters had good, bad, and sad endings, plus the music that played didn't help...
I was really sad for a few of my favorite characters, they happened to be the ones that got the "Not so great" endings.

Camus....why........why........

And every time i read the book Where the Red Fern Grows i start bawling.

Never really cried at a movie... because I don't watch sad movies.

And video game wise, if I can play like a total dick... I play like a total dick, so I don't feel bad about what happens.

It's like those idiots killing themselves after having seen Avatar.

No, I dunno. I was incredibly sad after I finished Ratchet and Clank. It was the first game I played, so it took a really long time. Like, six months. And then it was just over. No more gigantic weapons, no more funny jokes, no more the heartwarming characters.

Yeah. So although it was a happy ending I was sad. And then they made part two. And then I was sad, because it wasn't as good. Then they made part three, and I was GIDDY WITH JOY

Yeah, that happens to me sometimes. But mostly it's because is it wasn't the way I wanted it to end or because it was as happy as I wanted it to be.
