Why does it make me feel depressed? No clue.

I felt sad at the end of Arrested Development because I started watching it after I knew it had been canceled so when it was over I knew that there would be no more. And I'm beginning to doubt that there will ever be a movie.

right to be honest i have the same problem when things go well for the hero i feel sad.

The only reason i can think why this happens is as my life spends 85% its time trying to screw me over that i kinda wished one day it all fell into place and that i was happy.

Hoooh boy...
*cough* I cried during... Up...
Ok, I'll go hide in a closet now.
I thought every person with a soul and functioning tear ducts cried during that movie?

Me? I cry at all sorts of very emotional movie/game moments. The latest of which: the end of the new Battlestar Galactica seasons, you know the moment I mean. For those who don't, watch the series immediately! No, seriously, do it...now.

The Last Samurai and Reign Over Me were others that got tears flowing, there's a whole list of them but those are the ones that stand out.

For some reason (for quite a while) the original opening sequence of Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Series made me upset

Not crying, but depressed

It was REALLY weird

You have no idea how many people I know cried at Up. I didn't cry, but I sure as hell wasn't feeling warm and fuzzy. The movie then proceeded into flying awesomeness.

Uh... As for endings in something, I can't really remember anything tear-jerking. Nearly cried during the first Pokemon movie, in theater.

Also (sorry if it's OT), to add another film like that - Grave of the Fireflies. It still sends shivers down my spine just remembering it.

It's funny that films (and games) don't have to be live action to gain strong emotional attachment.

Not at the end, but I did cry when Optimus Prime died in Transformers: The Movie (the 1986 animated film, not that god-awful michael bay abomination). I was 8, I'm pretty sure I was still allowed to cry at certain things at that age without losing man points.

I originally thought it might be because of the ''good guy gets girl, happy ending'' type of setting, but it seems that endings period make you feel these feelings. I have a few theories that might have been said already in here. One is the fact that, once something ends, there is no more of it to continue off of. A few of the titles you named were ending movies in a series. But since you listed LMM, and Aladdin (both of which have sequels) I'm not so sure this is the case.

Perhaps it's just your regret that it ended and no matter how many times you re watched it, you wouldn't feel that first time watching special feeling of intrigue or surprise?

Well I just re-watched Eureka Seven and I still get that damn depressing feeling. I have no clue as to why. I usually don't get all teary eyed at movies, Up didn't even give me a slight urge.

The end of Mass Effect 2 had me feeling down. I'd grown to like the characters and the interactions and the very colourful universe that Bioware had created, but I knew that it was over, until the sequel comes out.
Same here. I was so sad when that game ended I almost cried. I can hardly wait for the sequel.
Me too, and that part where you
went through the omega 4 relay
really got me thinking "this must be how pure awesomeness is like..." only to be followed by
the fear of losing members of your team (got pretty attached to them (except Jack and Miranda, they were just... bitches =P))

Oh, and the intro! (the first time, after watching it like 20 times I grew tired...)

Oh, and.. let's just say ALL OF IT!!!!!!! :D

Is it the same exact feeling as the first time you finished it? Or is it a little different?
Exact same feeling, like someone dropped a rock in my stomach.

Has this turned into a therapy session?
