Because Tom Cruise is just so damn hateable. He did get some major respect back from me for his bit in Tropic Thunder, that was comic gold...

Scientology seems to have these huge problems with certain medications people need to continue living. Something about their alien soul.

Also, L. Ron Hubbard lied about pretty much everything he's ever done, if [a href=http://www.cracked.com/article_16337_l-ron-hubbards-5-most-impressive-lies-besides-scientology.html]this[/a] is any indication.

I like it because it reminds me people are dumb enough to beleive anything if you offer an explaination to you're existance and frequently asked questions on life "Why do we exist?" "Oh, you see son a giant man from outer space took a shit where our galaxy is today and thus created all of us"

Oh you think that no one would beleive this if I started yelling it to strangers.... you'd think that

dont Scientologists believe that they receive their own planet upon death to rule and govern however they wish, and they would have god like powers to use how ever they want

Scientology is not a religion.

Scientology is a fraudulent organization that claims to be a religion in order to shield itself from taxation and criticism.

There is no spiritual path at the heart of Scientology. Spirituality is about the surrender of the ego to the infinite; Scientology is about the surrender of the infinite to the ego.

Scientology will not survive the 21st century in its present form.

I have a problem with Scientology because of their beliefs. I do not have a problem because it is made up.

I would also like to point out exhibit A and B as to show that not all made up religions are bad.
I HIGHLY consider reading these after you get over the first initial laugh. Enjoy :)

"Now one of the main thrusts of the arguement against scientology is that it's created by a fiction writer, this is rather valid as a criticism however most of the Torah, bible etc are fictionalised, none of it is literal truth but a series of instructional tales."

I have a problem with this statement(I also have a problem with the quote function).
This is a very opinionated statement because, while we know the creator of scientology to be a fiction writer, we do not know for sure about the creation of the Torah, Bible, Qu'ran ect. To assume they were fiction writers is both ignorant and not provable.

4) Ask anyone around here, I consider ALL religions to be fallacious.
Intriguing. I probably know your argument for Western religions, but what of the East? I'm not one to call any one religion wrong or right, but I want to hear your rhetoric on Buddhism, Taoism, and Shinto, just out of interest.

Back on topic, I'm neutral on the matter. It may sound silly on paper and be a little less than perfect in action, but it's not the spawn of the devil. Whatever lets you think you'll live forever someday. Though I must admit, Xenu is a name that really ought to never appear in a religious text.

Someone pointed out the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and there's a difference between that and Scientological beliefs, chiefly believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster does not require you giving some crazy people all your money.

Also Paganism may have made a resurgence, yes, but it unilke Scientology is a real religion because thousands of years ago they weren't demanding all your money for knowledge.

I mean seriously, no other religion today has a "fair game" concept on its books (and no, Islamic Jihads do not count because that is not staying true to the ideals), no other religion demands you give them money before you can get knowledge of what you believe in (hell, the Bible is practically free these days). And no other religion has ever outright said that psychology/psychiatry is for tards. Yeah I'm sure tons of cash and dianetics would've saved my friend with bipolar disorder from killing himself. What a crock of shit.

And really, the fact that people buy any crap created by Lying Ron Hubbard is simply astounding. I'm not one to say any religion is purely right or wrong but since Scientology is not a religion in anything but name only, then I can say without any doubt that it is wrong.

Look on the bright side - with the way the economy is going, pretty soon nobody will be able to afford to join scientology.

I bet if the IRS audited them we'd be able to get the bailout money back.

Well scientology seems like a bunch of bs, but then again so does every other religion,
And that is part of the danger.

Yes people have the right to see religion as BS if they want, I don't understand it but its their right. However failing to recognize the dangers in Scientology or associating it with the often over generalized or over exaggerated evils of 'other religions' (Which is bull in and of itself, but not going to get into that) just allows the leaders of The CoS to further push rules that are directly harmful to their followers and others.

Ignoring the real danger of the CoS, at least as it is now, because you have an overall problem with religion is a dangerous practice.
