Teenagers are an easy target to be blamed because everyone expects teenagers to do it, even other teenagers. For the teenagers that are commiting crimes, it is much easier to blame them then get into the psychological issue of how much damage have their parents caused. Such as not spanking their children when they should.
There are alot of idiots that like Disney, their minds and wallets are easy to cater to, so they get all the marketing. It's just good business.

more on topic it seems like most people in this age group (I'm 14) do suffer from that particular type of brain damage. To me it seems like most of them do act like that (sigh) and people wonder why I'm a shut in.

When I was "coming of age" I noticed this. My parents seemed to fall into a pit of not wanting me to grow up, be taught about sex at school nor did they want to come forward and teach me.
As much as being a Roman Catholic (Forced like most other kid at the end of a belt) to be told the invisible man in the sky doesn't want me to do what nature is pretty much forcing my body to was a load of crap.
I broke off from that mistake and taught my kid straight up. Body is changing, what is sex. Told them, why should I practice safe sex. Showed my little girl a live birth (the one with the most screaming) Showed my boy cauliflower dick pictures on why you use a condome and what STD's are. Thank your internet.

I for one broke away from that. My kids went in to the teen armed with real life knowledge, hell my daughter was a bit freaked. And to this day no STD's no busts and no teen babies.
I chalk one up to honesty and having a brain in my head. And not having faith that keeping a kid ignorant will see me and them through...
On the other hand. I don't think a teen/kid is STUPID.
