Yahtzee hates everything. Few exceptions (Portal ... and Spider-man 2)

But yeah, I don't see why he hates it. It is rather entertaining to say the least.

We are not Yahtzee, we cannot answer this question.

Then I say something about opinions, not everyone will like things blah blah blah.

Feh, I don't listen to him when it comes to RTS games; mostly because he's not an RTS player (or so he claims). Each to their own, and this isn't it for him. Just accept it.
he said that he didnt like console RTS´ like C&C Red Alert 3, Dawn of War 2 (no wait, thats an action RPG), Halo Wars. ive yet to hear his opinion on pc RTS´.

I have noticed this as well, and I am quite displeased by it. One mention is fine enough, considering the individual in question's reputation for denouncing games, but after a second mention I am forced to ask exactly what complaint Mr. Croshaw has with the it. Rome: Total War is an amazing game, and to suggest otherwise is blasphemy of the highest degree.

i just think he doesn't really care about RPGs since they aren't really his cup of tea. i think he's more of the VIOLENCE WHOOHOO kinda player as evident in his Painkiller review.
"there's a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning...SHURIKENS AND LIGHTNING! the only way it could be made more awesome was if it had tits and was on fire"

I just want to know the details of how and why he doesn't like it.
How about you fucking ask him(Yahtzee) why he doesn't like it. He does visit this site quite often, you know.

I swear, the stupidity of some people sometimes. Baffling.

Rome: Total War, use numbers to amass armies then send them at folks to conquer. I would assume he dislikes the slow pace yeah? maybe he would rather have he enemies provide more of a challenge. the combat is fun, but nothing new comes with every battle. just lock all the melee infantry into melee and let the archers and cavalry muck about in thier own fields of expertise

I suppose that it's because the only difference between 90% of the units within a given battlefield role is their statistical differences. Heavy Infantry, Spearmen, Hoplite, Heavy Cavalry, Ranged Cavalry. there's more, but I don't find Flaming Pigs to be too usful. I also don't know how easily you can replenish a hurt unit of elephants

I guess swarming you opponents cities in an unending tide of elite infantry can get repetitive

frankly, I like roleplaying, I like the nifty extra bits (like Hyperboria) and how every General has thier own story but I never really felt too inclined to finish the campaign as the game dosen't provide me with much of a reward with every victory

hope that narrows it down

How the hell would any of us know what someone else's personal opinion is if he never told us? Nobody here knows the guy. Some have fantasies of knowing him, but no one actually does and so we can not tell you. [/thread]

I think what Yahtzee likes is a single-player mode with good pacing, a well told story, fun gameplay, et al that all comes together to simply be something good. I don't think an RTS game can do much in terms of story, especially one based on historical events, and the gameplay to any RTS game is always the same: spawn the most powerful units, and win game. Of course, this doesn't work in the online, but Yahtzee doesn't do online very well.

That's true, though it seems like he clumped all RTSs together and shook them off like a bad case of flu at some point.
