If they want to do the smart thing, make an update/sequel where all the classes have a female version
Scout - Fitness trainer
Medic - Nurse, duh
Sniper - Same style just female
Heavy - Body builder
Soldier - Dressed in 40's clothing, and a helmet
Spy - a femme-fatal style character with the long dress
Demowoman - for the laughs, looks exactly like the Demoman in dress, even has a beard
Pyro - female shape, maybe some hair coming out of the back of the mask
Engineer - fuck, i don't know, chick in a hard hat?
Yea, I would have to agree with same the classes just female versions. I think it would be cool to have female characters in TF2. I like the idea of a femme-fatale character.
The spy could have been the main character from no one lives forever...
i always thought it would be nice to have a hl2 homage with a scientist/physicist character with a weapon that is mostly experimental and has a little bit of a luck element to it.. a female physicist though hard to find in real life would be nice to have in a game =)
Yeah, I'd have to say it wont come from Valve because part of the reason for the character design is that you can look at a silhouette of any character for like a quarter of a second and recognise it, and I think it'd be a LOT of work to replicate that for 9 new female characters and still make them attractive choices to play as, note I don't mean visually attractive to men, but just look like they'd be fun to play as, all the current crop just look fun!
Its a huge amount of work for no real gameplay reward and as such, leave it to modders and let Valve get on with the next class update and new maps!
There IS a female character in the game. Did everyone forget the announcer?
Yeah yeah, I know...playable characters, right?
One reason may be the time the game is supposed to be set in. According to the pin-up calendars, it's 1968. The concept of women as combat troops hadn't caught on yet. The pin-ups themselves seem to indicate that the Red and Blu companies have a "no girls allowed" mentality when it comes to the mercenaries they hire. Again, this is 1968 we're talking about here. Sex discrimination in the workplace wasn't a big deal back then.
I for one don't really think about the lack of female characters. It's just not that big of a deal for me. I would also like to state that I do NOT think that the Pyro's a woman. Have you listened closely to his voice? Granted it's hard to make out, but it definitely has a male inflection.
In the words of the heavy: Stupid, stupid, stupid!
First off, if they were going to make female versions of the characters, a simple swap would be sufficient. Second, who the hell says they all need to be attractive or busty? For one thing, the males already aren't exactly paragons of manliness. They're exaggerated, cartoonish, and there's no logical reason why any female versions couldn't be treated the same way.
Because killing women in video games is wrong. I mean really think about the ratio of male npc versus female npcs killed. This is an outrage! I should be able to tear and shread every peice of fiber from a female's body as much as a man!
You have a point, but keep in mind that this isn't considered unacceptable. The Unreal Tournament series has plenty of female characters, all of which can be blown to bits in just as bloody a way as the guys. I don't think people would care much.
As for actual female classes, adding in a female counterpart of each class would be a little awkward. I think the spy and the pyro would make good female classes, otherwise leave the rest male.
I can has a mod? But seriously. For some reason, I wouldn't feel right killing the Pyro anymore if Valve leaked that it is a she. BUT. It would be awesome because Pyro's one of my fave classes.
Oh, oh, 10th class? I'd go with a Hunter - bow as a primary class (more ammo than Sniper, bigger damage, but a bit harder to hit), secondary would be... dart blower? and melee would be a spear.
