Life is great because I consider it to be great no matter how shitty it is.
But really my life is good because I think it's good and I'm happy with what I have not what I can't have because lets face it obsessive desire creates misery and misery makes us well miserable (duh).

Because I'm going to my dad's for 2 weeks. And apart from finally being able to see him after a year, he has a fiber-optic internet connection, which translates to space-age internet speeds.

I'm going from an unstable 1mb/s connection to, well lord knows what speed. But it will be amazing.

My cat is awesome.

She kills 2 or 3 things every day. She opens cupboards by herself, and is terrified of popcorn.

As is mine. She likes feet. Any time anyone has bare feet, she'll take the opportunity to rub herself against them, and if you're not careful she'll experimentally nibble on your toes. Maybe it's because she really likes cheese? Oh, and she attacks my grandmother, which I'm not allowed to do. I love my cat, even if she is slightly wrong in the head.

I'm guessing your cat is terrified of the noise popcorn makes during preparation? Or is she actually scared of the stuff when it's just sitting there in a bag?

OT: Stuff that means my life doesn't suck: Apart from the standard benefits of living in a first world country, I have awesome parents that love me, I have friends that I like that I can to talk to on the interwubs, and I have money so I can sit around all day on my bitchin' computer. Plus aforementioned cat.

I have a theory that she is actually able to see heat, because she is terrified of hot popcorn in a bowl. Hot rice in a bowl, cooked chicken, and so on, but only when they're hot. Not once they've cooled down.

Because the question is, why it doesn't suck, while there are some nice things about it, overall I think it sucks, I'm not going to go into why. But point is, to answer the question, there would have to exist one thing, that would pull it from the non-sucking area, unfortunately, there is no single thing that can do that. I will experience little moments of happiness, however they are usually on drugs, kinda sad huh?

Philosophy!

Not only does it give you the ability to say "Bugger off" in the most educated way possible,
it also makes it much easier to live your life in a lazy way. Determinism is an excellent thing when I did something wrong; "oh, I'm sorry, but it's not really my fault, is it? I went to the mall today!". By the time they figure out going to the mall didn't influence the problem at all, I can be in another country, like Singapore!

And if people don't want to deal with philosophy because I'm using it way too often, I can accuse them of being stupid fools who deny logic&wisdom and worship a cup of lemonade instead of reading an informative book once in a while.

Even in school it's useful. I could waste hours of the Biology lessons by arguing consciousness (which played quite a big part of what we had to learn) never really was defined (Each time it was defined, somebody wasn't pleased with the definition), and thus it was a pathetic dogma not fit for being teached to young, impressible students. If I wanted dogma's, I would have taken the religous lessons (Which I didn't). If biology is dogmatic, then we might as well start carving limestone idols of Sir Joseph Swan during the lessons.


Another thing that makes me happy:
I'm always able to perform my hobby.. I like to con people, and dumb people are everywhere.

He was whining and complaining because a store clerk wouldn't give him cigarettes without ID, so I told him that he doesn't get exempt from the rules. He glared at my cousin when she tried to talk to him earlier, so I wasn't in a good mood.
