I have two reasons for writing this. First is to see if I can get some help running a pc game that is giving me trouble. While the second is to just get some general feedback on how pissed off other people get when they try to play a new game and it just doesnt work. Personally I am close to picking up my computer and throwing it out the window. You guys get the same way? From super buggy to super difficult, My videogames (which are supposed to be pure enjoyment) are way too often pure frustration. How do y'all feel about it?

Oh the game is Supreme Commander by the way. I just bought it online and it arrived today. The package is fine and it seems to have everything. But when I insert the disc it has nothing on it but fansite material. WTF? It has no setup.exe or install features or anything! Has this ever happend to anyone else?

Some sites screw stuff up... Personally I'm running a Macintosh and my graphic card is dying on me, so I can do much more than Internet flash games and Email. I think its close enough to your problem to count. I feel your pain buddy.

What do you mean 'fansite material'? You got a disc in a game box that has some HTML code in it?

An RTS fan I'm guessing?
I'm struggling with my copy of Red Alert 2...it worked before I got Steam and AVG installed but I kinda need both of those. It freezes my computer unless I go into it via Autoplay from the CD. Very strange but as I said, it's probably because of all the stuff on my PC that opens on startup.
Plus Team Fortress 2 won't run but that's because I didn't properly read the specs for my PC when I bought it. ¬_¬ I need 640 mb of RAM but A) no-one will sell it to me in that exact amount and B) I can't install the RAM even if I get my hands on it.

uhhh i recently bought warhammer online.... it took me aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages to try to install the game because i had to install this certain flash... i went looking on the internet and could not find the flash anywhere.... turns out it was on the game disc.....

so i finally install the game..patch it... create a character... and start...

the game is painfully laggy and crashes everytime you do something as strenuous as walk around for 5 mins...

Ubisoft annoy me the most. Realease a potentialy good game onto the PC, but it flops because:

A) HUNDREDS of intial bugs

B) Takes months to do a patch, often a useless one

C) Never listens to the community

D)...It's ubisoft.

My computer right now can't open any games on steam, it keeps giving me this bullshit message that the opener hl2.exe had an unexpected problem and needed to close. Ugh

Got KOTOR II not long ago and it totally refuses to run.
Spent about a day trying to fix it from every angle I could think and still nadda.

Sucks but yeah, that's life.

Damn... I feel your pain brother. Same thing, except mine wont crash after 5 minutes.

OT: Games are fickle things, especially on computers. Sometimes they might install perfectly, then you get struck by the dreaded '6GB WAR Patch' (Recently Discovered, Patent Pending). Other times, they will be a ***** to install but run nicely in the end.

Or, more likely, in your case, the company made a massive cockup. Ring the Tech Monkeys and see what they can do about it.

I recently bought Call of Duty 4 just to check it out. Even though I bought it cheap I still get pissed when my pile of shit DVD reader won't recognize the DVD. I had to bring it over to another more shitty computer I have (it's barely working) and make an image on that one to transfer back to my main computer. And after it's installed IT STILL WON'T WORK!
Then I gave the disc away to a friend who hopefully will have more luck. Multiplayer works though, but whener I try to run SP vista crashes and all I can do is to press the power button.

I have can't run Mass Effect (some error message pops up and I think it's a problem with the disk and therefore the installation) I'm sure it isn't the graphics card becuase my computer can run Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway (in a semi slideshow sort of way).

You can probably expect it to be full to the rim with bugs, since it's a Xbox to PC port.
I guess it's microsofts way to tell everyone to buy consoles.
