I acknowledge that Batman Arkham City has been reviewed to be an amazing game from the reviewers' points of view. I just don't find it interesting. But as soon as I mention it people are gushing at Batman Arkham City the same way people are gushing at other mainstream titles (MW3, B3 etc etc etc) but they seem to emphasise that they are correct no matter what logical argument I put forward to them. Why don't these people grow up and learn that the games that they are interested in aren't necessarily interesting to other people?

Btw I've had friends pull the argument, I looked at gameA but never liked the look of it until I played it and now I love it, so you should play Batman AC and you will love it. No no no. I have played Batman AC, doesn't interest me at all.

So what do my fellow escapists think of this?

I hate Batman and everything about him. I hated Arkham Assylum. And I wont play Arkham City.

You'd be surprised at the amount of hate I get for that. I dont think its a case of growing up- its a case of people being to narcissistic to see that they are not the center of the universe. That, my friend, is something you see at every age/level of maturity.

Because people suck.
And you always seem to be unlucky in finding the ones that actually think.

I'm assuming you give them a reason that you don't like it?

It can be frustrating when you love something and someone else just says "It's just not good."

I know because I feel that Oblivion is "Just not good." and people don't understand because I can't put into words why I feel that way. I also have friends who feel that games I like "Just aren't good." which I love and it's annoying because I think they would like them if they gave it a go.

With your example though, you've at least played B:AC so they've really got no leg to stand on when it comes to the "Just give it a chance." thing.

Ask them how they like Assassin's Creed. Then point out that AC has the same combat as AC. Counter, Crit, Counter, Crit. The thing that makes Arkham different from Assassin's is the special moves. IE the take downs. And the fact that Counters and Crits don't kill someone in one hit then again batman isn't using a sword.

Do you count 10 minutes at the shops as worthy play time?

That may not be play time enough for a decision to be made, but I'm not going to play B:AC for 2 reasons. 1 . I played B:AA and didn't like it. 2. I'm not going to play a sequel before the original game.

No, maturity includes the ability, no it requires the ability to accept that you are not always right, that you don't always have the answer, that you aren't the center of the universe. If you lack that ability, you are not at an advanced level of maturity. you might be 80 years old, but you aren't mature.

OT: People need to grow up for a lot of reasons, this is but one small facet of the problems which this society faces which show themselves through the immaturity of the average member of said society.

Not for me, but I suppose I only played Bayonetta for about an hour before deciding that I hate it.

I still think any game based off a comic book is bound to be bad, if it was based off of the recent Batman movies then I would consider playing it, but as it is I would never play it.

Never. They'll never learn.

People freaked when Uncharted 3 got a 8/10 (Which honestly, is what it deserved. It's a good game, yes, but it's not SUPER AMAZING MEGA AWESOME 10/10 material. Uncharted 2 definitely was, though.)

Do you have any idea what would happen if Skyrim got below a 11/10?

Complete anarchy. End of the world.

But you played from the beginning with an intro to the story. You didn't just get chucked into 7 hours of playtime, to which you play 10 minutes of, then make your decision.

I'm actually not kidding with rvnbut doing that with AC, 10 minutes at shops is fact.

The aesthetic sense is the single most subjective sense I can conceive of. The maturity needed is the realization that someone else has differing opinions and that you can actually hold those opinions without and still get along.

For crying out loud, why in the world would they produce so many different genres of games, books, movies, etc., if everyone found the same things appealing?

Enjoy the games you enjoy and dislike the ones you don't. All I can ask is don;t jump on my back if we don't like the same things.

Oh yes, and call me out if I can't seem to give you the same courtesy.

I'm not really sure what you are getting at.

If you mean that people don't agree with you that B.AC is rubbish then it's pretty much a cut and dry case of you like different things than them.

No offence but it seems kind of childish that you can't accept that maybe someone doesn't like the same things as you, which is ironic, given the title of the thread.

I don't like anime but It doesn't bother me that you do, for example.

If you mean people are pestering you to play it and just won't accept that you don't like it then just reiterate to them that it isn't for you. At the end of the day they are just trying to share something with you that they enjoy. It's not a hostile intention.

Now I'm one of those fanboys that have been yearning for Skyrim since the initial annoucement (OhMyJosh can confirm this), but I know that there are going to be some areas of the game that aren't going to appeal to reviewers. It's actually quite easy to resign to that fact. I just don't understand why people can't do the same with the Batman games.

But with AA I played from beginning and didn't like it. So the amount of time spent on AC doesn't really matter.

I mean that one. Believe me, reiterating to some of these people is not going to make them realise that it's fine for me to not play it.

Oh btw, the worst argument put forward to me about not playing B:AC is this: "You are missing out as a gamer for not playing this game." Really? Are you also going to tell me that I'm missing out as a gamer for not playing Farmville or Nintendogs?

AA and AC are fairly different. Even though they keep the same gameplay and things, they are different games.

Unless this is like Kingdom Hearts of how you won't play it as you are over Disney. I can understand with the Atlantica level in 2, but if it's, I wont play it as I'm over Batman. Then seriously shame on you *moves finger up and down*.

I second this, and add that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
