Well, Let's see.

Games I want to play are on the consoles anyway.

I hate using a keyboard and a mouse to control things.

I'm not into modding.

My reasons are:
1. My computer is an ancient piece of crap which can barely even run the internet most of the time.
2. I am dirt poor and therefor can not afford to upgrade my computer nor could I get a new one.(so anyone who says I need to stop playing on consoles and play PC can either give me the money to do so or or go fuck themselves with a flamethrower)
3. There are only a few games that I can think of that I would even want to play that I couldn't get for my Xbox or PS2.

Too much hassle for too few exclusive games.

As soon as it becomes user friendly I might take a gander at it, but for now I'll stick with my inferior tech.
How many exclusives do you think PC gaming has?

RPS posted this list and that's no where near a complete list, far from it.

To be fair he did say exclusives a lot of those are not exclusives.

Well, the only one I want to play is The Witcher 2.

So yeah, that's not a lot.

And a good chunk of the games on that list aren't PC exclusive, by the way.

I personally dont understand this outlandish problem people have with someone not playing on the PC, its like they believe that by not playing on the PC, their precious core gaming group will disappear, here is a news flash, it wont, stop worrying about it and just play the fucking games.
No one cares if people play consoles for reasons like convenience or if they prefer the games.

It's when people use reasons like "I don't want to spend $5000 on a PC" or "I don't want to upgrade every 6 months" then it just shows they are making decisions based of huge misconceptions which are refuted time and time again yet still need to be repeated every thread.
Why do you even care if they do or do not have misconceptions about it?

Why is this topic so important to PC gaming enthusiasts?

I dont see constant WHY DONT YOU PLAY ON THE CONSOLE INSTEAD OF PC threads being made biweekly.

So why is it so freaking important for PC players to know that Console players arent informed about the PC?

I can easily start a game without having to wait for my console to start up everything.
I'm sorry, what?

Between firmware updates, badly optimised loading and trying to log into a service using a keyboard that's used with the controller, you spend just as much time as us waiting for something to start (assuming you don't solely use pre-firmware consoles.)

Edit: Stuff takes a while to load on all disc-based media, console or PC. You get firmware updates, we get patches which might or might not fix stuff, both of us have to log into services a lot, and now with Microsoft saying you can only play your XBLA games using the exact same console AND exact same user you bought them with...

I do play games on my... oh wait.

Well if I didn't it would be because PC's are a lot of hassle to get things running. Without something like Steam available, I would probably have sold my PC long ago and got something a lot cheaper, maybe a laptop.

A few people have probably beaten me to the punch on these, but since you asked:

(1) Because playing a game with an input device originally designed for typing letters rather than game-playing has always been clumsy and awkward, at least to me, and

(2) Because I can't afford to buy a load of new computer parts every time a new game comes out.

That second thing, in particular, is by far the biggest reason I've stuck with consoles: all I have to do is turn them on, put the disk in, and play. I guess I'll have to find a way to afford more PC games, though, if some of the crap I've heard about the next-gen consoles turns out to be true...

1) I use my wired xbox 360 controller to play games on my pc all the time. Some newer games even have it already mapped properly for a 360 controller.

2) once you buy a new computer, unless you really really cheap out on it, it should last you at least 7-10 years running on high specs for most modern games, and then you can incrementally upgrade it as you go if you feel the need. I bought a new PC over christmas and it can run almost any game on full and it cost me just about $1000. You could have gone for half that price and still have a very capable gaming rig.

I've gamed on consoles my entire life, I grew up with them. I prefer a controller in my hand to a mouse and keyboard, I find keyboard and mouse awkward and it hurts my hand. Also, I like coming home with a new game and popping it in without having to worry if my drivers and all that nonsense are up to date. I prefer the simplicity of console gaming.

PC's not good enough, a new one would break the bank. Satisfied with my Xbox, have most friends on one too so getting a PC would be segregating myself from a lot of social interaction.

But on the contrary: I'm getting a cheap gaming pc and I'm going to survive the bank-breaking it will cause for a month or so, so that I can continue playing games like WoW, LoL, UT3 etc. doing more than 15fps with the few friends of mine who don't have Xbox, but play PC.

Whoever said I couldn't have best of both worlds?

Have to say, 'becuase I want to use a controller' is not a good reason as you can use every controller known to man on the PC.
Not as easily. Consoles are simple, and what's wrong with that? If I want to play a game on my couch with a controller it takes 1 min of setup on a console and well over an hour on my PC. I'll just hit the power button instead of messing with cables, drivers and updates.
Ah, but simplicity the reason I was talking about or a reason I would disagree with. Simply that if you want to play using a controller, it is not a reason, on it's own, to not use a PC.

As far as setting up a controller as usual people exaggerate. For my 360 controller, I plugged it in, windows update went on line to grab the driver and I was playing a game with it 5 minutes later, FACT.

I don't consider having to buy a console controller to play a PC game to be a point for PCs.
Who said you HAD to buy one. Like everything else with PC, it's optional, unless you are telling there was some PC game that only accepts controller input?

1. Unless it's simple flash game, I can't game with a keyboard and mouse to save my life.
Too many spread out buttons now matter how I configure it.

2. Also, too low on cash to buy/make a gaming rig.

3. Not enough variety of games. Although I'm probably looking in the wrong places, I'm still putting this as a reason.

Well the thread is about PC gaming. If people post things that are wrong, on a bloody forum of all places then what is the issue if we correct them?
correct them about what?

About not playing in the GRORIOUS PC, because they are dumb poor retards?

Well thank you for the enlightenment, ill keep playing on the console, thanks.

That is one of the major problems i do not play most games on the pc these days it is so much hassel.I want to play with a controller on my tv so on a pc i would have to unplug my keyboard, mouse and monitor to plug in the controller and my tv.That is after installing the game and then making sure i have the settings right for it.

That is close to 30 minutes i could have been playing the game on a console.
Dexter111 said:
Except what you're saying is wrong, that "hassle" is mostly imaginary and not much different from what it takes to install games on a console... Steam makes a lot of things even easier, if you want to play with a controller you simply need to stick this into an USB-port of your PC once and henceforth just press the "Xbox" button in the middle to start it up whenever you feel like it, you don't have to unplug anything.

And it's just as easy to hook up a PC to a TV as it is to do it with a console... it's literally the same process, you stick the HDMI cable in the back. Trust me, I'm playing games with a controller on my TV a lot... and I'm using a PC to do that...
These things exist damn i have been out of pc gaming way too long. But i use a 360 so i dont install games that is a slight plus yes i know it normally about 15 minutes these days i am so impatient i did buy a new gaming pc but only play rts games on it these days.

Guess on my part now with the new information it comes down to playing with friends and already having most of the games i play already on my 360 but i will keep my mind abit more open when buying my next game
