Yeah, Futurama is a pretty smart comedy, probably only contested by Community in terms of smart jokes (and pop culture references).

E: As far as South Park goes; sometimes, it's just not funny. Trust me, I love the snarky political humor, and I'll go for the ridiculous obscenity sometimes, but it never manages to really make me laugh as much as the Futurama movies did and can never get it's timing as perfect as Futurama does.

I love Futurama, probably my fav as well. Almost cried when it got canceled, but I survived on reruns till the new seasons started.
Family Guy is funny, but it got old really quick & it just kinda annoys me now.
Still love South Park it's just so wrong that it appeals to that sick sense of humor.
American Dad would be ok if I could kill the Alien....

Archer is another absolutely awesome show. The only thing that I don't like about it is the channel that it's on, too many stupid commercials. Guess i should just pick up the dvds...

I never used to like it till last year when I gave it another chance. Season 1 kinda sucked but from S2 onward its awesome. When I finished season 5 I didn't even know it was still on air. I knew it got brought back but I thought that happened in 2006 and it got cancelled after 1 season.

South park I never liked and still don't. I've only seen a few eps but they seem to just take 1 main joke and stretch it out over the whole episode.

American dad is good. Family guy had 2 bad season with way too many long and pointless songs as filler and annoying political messages, then got better again.
Simpsons I still like.
Never watched Archer, but it seems good from a few clips.

Oh and the Cleveland show... yeah... why did they even make that? What is this, UPN, when they thought black people needed separate shows?... but with a bear...

I like Futurama, it's absurd, but a good kind of absurd. I do enjoy The Simpsons and South Park on occasion, but quit watching Family Guy after it started pandering primarily to the lowest common denominator. Though American Dad's not too bad...

I used to love Futurama in the past but then it just went boring after a while. It started out great but the latter seasons barely raised a chuckle from me, apart from a few key moments.

South Park was another one, I cant even watch it anymore because Cartman just bugs the fuck out of me.

Family Guy was another one I used to love but now its just gotten old and retraces the same jokes.

Futurama had 3 or 4 seasons before it lost its creativity. South Park what, 6 or 7? Maybe more, but it's worse than new Futurama is now which is to be expected seeing it's been around for longer.

The problem with Futurama has always been the same problem with new South Park - it tries to make you laugh too much, at the expense of the rest of the show. It feels forced and makes you picture the writers in the studio thinking "how can I make these people laugh" or "what's a good joke I can put here". And that's never a good thing - you should always be absorbed in what you're watching, not picturing the show's creation process feeling you're being pandered to.

Best animated series? I'd go with Hey Arnold. 5 seasons of totally consistent but not repetitive episodes with really memorable characters. Can't ask for more.

I agree Futurama one of the best shows out there. Some absolutely fantastic episodes.

The new ones aren't quite up to scratch, there have been some good ones, but it's become almost a parody of its oldself in a way...a bit too wild and crazy.

Futurama is an excellent show, the characters are great, the episodic content is great, its just a wonderful show. I find it much more entertaining than Family Guy (which hasn't been funny since the show re-booted) and South Park (which is funny but sometimes just too gross). However, if the creators of the show released episodes on a regular basis, I would have to say that I like Venture Bros. better. The jokes are as funny and sometimes funnier, the cast of characters is excellent and the episodic content is just as good as Futurama's. Anyway, that's my two-cents, I agree with you that Futurama is one of the best adult cartoon shows out there, just maybe not THE best.

I?m not as familiar with Futurama as I am with the other shows, due to the schedule on available channels and whatnot, but from what I?ve seen, it?s good.

The Simpsons??nuff said. It?s a great sitcom. Haven?t watched the recent seasons, though.

South Park seems to think it?s more clever than it actually is, and Cartman?s not funny, he?s just annoying. Well, none of the characters are what I?d call ?good?. The satire is pretty weak, to be honest, and it feels more like two guys just cracking inside jokes with each other.

Family Guy is hilarious most of the time, and even the abuse of the cutaway gags is somewhat made up for by them being genuinely amusing. It?s not intelligent, but comedy doesn?t have to be intelligent to be funny. It can be deep, it can be satirical, or it can just be random slapstick or sex jokes to crack you up. Although I think Family Guy?s not just poop jokes and I believe it to be a smarter brand of humour than South Park.

American Dad is almost equal with Family Guy, but I don?t think it?s that funny. Entertaining for a half-hour, sure, but I don?t get many laughs out of it.

The Cleveland Show is just embarrassing schlock. What is this, the 90s? I?m sorry, but not even Cleveland Brown can support that tragedy. What was Seth McFarlane thinking?

I do love Futurama, it's awesome, the post season 4 stuff (The films and the new series) has fallen flat to me though.
While I agree with this sentiment in general, I have to admit that I thought the best Futurama of all time took place after it. "The Late Philip J. Fry" is perhaps the greatest episode for me, and by far my favorite. As much as I cried during Jurassic Bark, The Late Philip J. Fry just had something....extra about it. Not sure what, but whatever it was, it had it.

Apart from that episode... yeah. Pretty much. Still one of the best shows on TV, but not as good as it used to be.(I feel so cliché for saying that, though)

"How about we crack open a Six-pack and watch the end of the universe?"

"That's pretty much what i do every night."

The reason you think that is probably because you haven't watched Archer. Alternatively, you have watched Archer and you are, in fact, insane.

I can tell you for one thing, it kicked Seth McFarlane crappy cartoon shows any time and any where! Futurama is definitely one for the classics out there.

Some of the good qualities is that there isn't much limitation on what can be used in the show. They can always just say "He's an alien so they can." or "It's the future, so they can."
