I mean, they kill millions of people a year. They serve no purpose. They cause misery. I just don't see why scientists devise some method to eliminate them. If you have any ideas on how we could go about doing this, speak up.

Um... no?

I mean, we have the Denghy fever up north, but that's genocide. Mind you, dealing with Malaria is a bigger issue, and I condone that wholeheartedly.

My advice: Aerogard.

Nature needs them...Not to sound cruel but people multiply so fast that if nature didn't have SOME way to eliminate us on a mass scale we'd probably kill ourselves(probably will anyway...)

If we kill off the mosquitoes, where will the spiders get their iron from?

It's been tried. They tried it to eliminate yellow fever in the states.
The only way they'll cure that is by making japanese chicks less hot.

I find that it is best not to eliminate anything till you are sure you never need it. For all we know Mosquito feces is the cure for forum trolls. Besides, if you do not like them just eat a lot of garlic or start smoking.

Remove one species from the ecosystem, and it all fails...

Not that it wouldn't be good to rid the world of them, it just wouldn't be advisable....

Are you some sort of child? You cannot simply destroy an entire species and expect no consequences, not to mention that the misquito population of the world is probably more than 1000 times our own.

What about mammals?
Those are actually a lot easier to make extinct too because of their smaller number and longer life cycle...but yes I get your point about making a species extinct...

They are a food source for many birds and other insects. Removing one part of the food-chain can have devistating, and lasting effects.

Haven't you ever taken biology? They're vital for the ecosystem.
This.
Thirded.

Humans are "of" the world, not "in charge of" it. Aribtrarily exterminating entire species because they occassionally give you a nip is dumb on a grand scale.

Maybe carpet the surface of the earth with high yield nuclear weapons and DDT? Set up giant mirrors in space to reflect the suns rays away from earth, thus starting a new ice age and freeze the little buggers? Planes with giant fly swatters underneath? A race of fast breeding, genetically engineered, trained bat/whale hybrids to eat them all?

Doesn't seem worth the effort to me. Along with all the shit other people said.

Garlic and smoking doesn't necessarily repell mosquitos.

I'm pretty sure the whole garlic thing is a myth anyway. Also, even if the garlic did work, if a malaria infected mosquito bit you, it would be too late anyway.
You are probably right, but I like garlic and I do not get bit nearly as obtain as my sister who loves sweets. Still, it is a bad idea. How about instead of killing off mosquitos we kill off malaria?
