I think Battlefield 1943 owns every other WW II / Modern FPS multi-player out there.

- Balanced weapons (with a bit of recoil!)
- Good maps (with color!)
- Balanced classes (and not too many of them!)
- Meaningless leveling system (like it actually matters!)
I can think of two, Wolfenstein Enemy Territory and Qauke Wars Enemy Territory. In my opinion those two games are the best Multiplayer games of 2000-2010, easy.

There will be a shitstorm if they start charging for multiplayer. I can't imagine the d00ds down at microsoft being too happy about that. They will probably lose subscriptions to Xbox live if the CoD people do that.

Wow. I get it with the melee, okay, it is unrealistic that the knife wins out over the LMG, I have personally experienced that same frustration on more occassions than I can count. That said, while from a realism point it may not make sense, from a gaming point it makes perfect sense. In a shooter, melee should be rediculously high powered, because getting close enough to someone with a gun to deal a deathly melee blow is not always going to be easy. So, suck it up, because it's part of the balance of the game.

As for your other, primarily aesthetic complaints, again, I agree, the maps are boring to look at (exceptions I would make are for Terminal and High Rise, I haven't played any of the map packs), but people didn't buy Modern Warfare because they wanted pretty scenery, they bought it for a tactical shooter, and in that sense the maps deliver.

If I were you, I'd just try to calm the fuck down. Getting your panties all up in a bunch over something this small really isn't going to get you anywhere. If you don't enjoy it, don't play it, and leave the rest of us to enjoy the game in peace.

Meh, I liked it. What, you expect a long rant as to how you're wrong? That would be as unproductive as arguing to someone who likes it about why you hate it. And who'd do that?

Over the year(s?) that it has been out.
It's been out for roughly 7 months.

Your rant was a decent one. The melee system is fucking ridiculous. I don't understand where these guys keep their knifes nor do I understand how stabbing someone in the toe is an instant kill. I guess we have to rely on Valve for decent melee weapons.
I agree with you on the maps although I thought COD 4's maps were even worse. They all seemed to be set in the same unspecified middle-eastern country.
DLC is like that. Overpriced and not worth it. Get used to it.

I kinda like this game though. The campaign is easily the worst I've ever played and Spec-Ops raises the question "Why couldn't the terrible campaign be 2-player?" The Multiplayer is hideously unbalanced but once you stop treating it like a serious game then it becomes quite addictive. Not a bad rant mind you. It's easy to see why anyone would hate this game although an overpowered melee attack, boring maps and DLC that you don't actually have to buy isn't really a great reason to say you detest a game.

The maps: MW is most guilty of the greatest sin all modern combat simulators fall prey to: Grey or brown, boring maps. Whether it's a desert or a russian trainyard or a goddamn junkyard (which they have done twice with the new map pack ffs) there is not one map there that looks appealing. Jesus christ in these next map packs they are actually bringing back Vacant, can you imagine a more grey and boring map? Which also brings me to...

T
I have to disagree here, I feel the MW2 maps are a lot more colourful than thse in most other shooters.

The new Resurgence maps are fantastic looking, Carnival and Trailer park are exploding with bright colours. Also, Quarry, Wasteland, Skid Row, Afghan, Favela, Bailout, Highrise, Terminal... dude, they are all really unique looking and colourful maps!

MW2 has a lot of problems, but I really don't think its graphics are one of them:

Really? Those are the things that annoy you the most? Not the horrible spawn system, the glitches, the unfair perks, the horrendously un-balanced weapons, the crappy dedicated server replacement, or the massively overpowered killstreaks? I would be able to understand your complaints with the unrealistic meelee system (see also, useful) if the game ever tried to pass itself off as realistic. BC2 has a more realistic meelee speed, but I can't stand because it's not useful in any situation, so why have it in the game at all?

I am sorry that is not a long rant if you want a rant on the many other problems of MW2 and Activision I think I could atleast double if not triple that word count. There many more better reason to hate MW2. I think the only valid point you have is the one on Map packs.

I have seen many anti-mw2 rants and have agreed with them or tried to argue with them, but (don't take it personally) these are some of the weakest arguments I have ever heard in terms of bashing MW2.
Once again, I'm sure it's been said, but no one is forcing you to play it.
Despise it? Move the fuck on with something else (there's enough 'else' out there believe me).

I'm not gonna lie, I love Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. But your point is one that I recognise. It's the exact same point I have. While the game is good, it has major flaws that can't go unnoticed. The problem is, they have gone unnoticed and infinity ward aren't going to try and fix them because the flaws would make the job harder for them and might lose them consumers. I think the biggest flaw is the amount of unfair teams and the ability to hack the servers which I have noticed people have started charging for. This is pretty much unavoidable, there will always be hackers and they'll hack into any system whenever they please.

As for it going cost to play, I doubt they'll do that. The last infinity ward campaign was dull, boring and lacked a great amount of detail to the plot. It was also bad for repeating and after completing it on regular, hardened and then veteran I could have shot myself (but I needed to beat the campaign). Special ops were decent, I thought they were rather fun. However, they were only co-op and they weren't really all that fun when you got stuck on them. They could have improved that heavily by making larger than just two player and allowed you to play with strangers. That was something else the campaign lacked. Multiplayer. Treyarch were thought to have done a bad job on WaW but they included some great aspects to the game that Infinity Ward dismissed.

I think what really happened was Infinity Ward had a deadline and invested all it's time into the XBOX Live area after finishing the campaign. They wanted a game that would bring the most money and, like you said, they charge large amounts for the map packs, which people will buy because of the good multiplayer. Infinity Ward have been very lazy with MW2 and I don't think that they'll be any different in their next game. I'm looking at Treyarch to bring back the title and get better with their version of the Call of Duty series, they seem to be on the up (Call of Duty 3 wasn't too good then WaW was much better but needed some tweaking).

Your main problems are with the multiplayer, so I'm just going to assume that you got your ass kicked a bit and got mad, threw the controller down and made a thread about it. However, your points are valid ones and whatever reason you made them for doesn't affect their validity so there we go.

This is a long rant!

Also, your arguments kinda suck mayor ass.

So your argument is that Melee combat is better than firepower when in Melee distance, and that you don't like the brown/gray-ish nature of the maps.

Which means that to fix the Melee combat according to you we should simply take away melee combat entirely, and for the maps we paint over all the brown and gray. No, don't fix all the perks that make the melee overpowered or change the maps for better gaming, just take away the melee entirely and paint over the unbalanced maps so they are more colorful.
No, Melee is better than firepower in Shotgun distance.

Taking away melee is a good idea, whoever thought of giving you an instant kill just for being next to someone can fuck off.

Sorry, explain how that's an exploit again? I honestly don't see why people have a problem with it.
