about 2 years ago my friend started going to a internet cafe to play video games and ever since then he has been trying to get me to come with him. but i keep on avoiding him because of these reasons

1) I have never seem to wrap my head around spending money for something that i can play for free at my own house it just doesn't make sense to me.

2) the nice thing aboutplaying games at you house is everything is right there if im tired and its 2 oclock in the moring thats it im done i go turn off the videogame and go upstairs to my bed and go to sleep i cant do that at a cafe im pretty sure they frown on that same with food.

3) and this is pretty much the most imortant thing i find it really really boring especially considering the fact that my friend is usally raiding on world of warcaft which means i can sit there and play a game by myself or go on the internet because most of the people he knows there are raiding with him and im paying extra money for this.

4) Atmosphere: most of the video games i enjoy are ones that immerse me into the story they get my heart raceing and i begin to care about the characters that I am playing this tends to suffer when the person sitting next to you and says your doing that wrong.
I dont know maybe its Just Me Anyway thats how i veiw it i would like to hear what you think

I agree with your points. If you can't participate in the raid with your friend then it's pointless to go and spend money there. Also, I agree, sometimes I like my "me" time when i'm playing a game and don't want someone sitting next to me giving a commentary and ruining the experience. I hate that so much.

Let me stop you at number one. If you have internet at home, internet cafes are not for you. If your friend has internet too, tell him he is a moron. If he doesn't tell him you do and he should just bring his computer over. If he doesn't have a computer, call him a filthy peasant and punch him in the mouth.

This topic: "What I hate about internet cafes. 1) I am not their target demographic. 2) A bunch of other crap that doesn't matter because of 1."

Well if he's raiding in WoW, that's quite a stupid thing to call you for... even if he wants you to join the raid, you can do it from home, considering you'll be on Vent/TS anyway I guess, it won't be much difference from sitting next to him.

Playing in LAN with a bunch of buddies though - thumbs up. Btw, if you go and there's few of you, give Far Cry 2 a go. It's quite a decent multiplayer for small scale (might be good with more people too, but I haven't tried, was just me and 2 mates playing recently).

But don't not go out of principle. Just tell him to organise something other than WoW, cause that's not really a game you go to the internet cafe for (unless you don't have a PC, but that's obviously his problem, not yours :p )

edit: also yeah, as mentioned above, if you can arrange bringing computers to someone's place, that's a hell of a lot better. But unless you have gaming laptops (or play old games), got a good router to go around and/or your friends/you don't mind lugging a desktop over, it can be a bit of a tricky option.

I don't feel as strongly about it as you do, but they bother me a bit as well. The only reason I can see for going is the food, but even that is full of problems. If you're using public computers (like most cafes do), you MUST wash your hands before eating anything. Think of how many people use those computers in a given day, how sweaty their hands get, and how few of them washed their hands after they last used the bathroom.
Speaking of bathrooms, would you rub your fingers all over a toilet seat and then eat a sandwich? Of course not. But believe it or not, it is safer to do that than to eat after using a computer, because the keyboard has five freaking times more germs than a toilet seat! So if you want a reason to stay away from a cafe, there's a good one right there.
For myself, I always bring some hand sanitizer with me when I go out to those places, and I disinfect my own computer very often.
