Disclaimer:
I don't know anything about any kind of release date or if it is even coming out at all.

It's been so damn long, DNF long and well, I've kind of lost interest.
They'll hype the fuck out of it and you'll be able to buy a $250 special edition and get all tens from everyone but I just don't care anymore.
It's been almost ten years since episode 2, does anyone even care at this point ?
Can HL3 even live up to the expectations of the internet/gamers ?
I feel a terrible disappointment looming on the horizon.
Maybe I'll pick it up at a summer sale somewhere in 2016 or something.
Anyone else done waiting for what might never come ?

Gabe has confirmed that they're working on HL3.

Because Valve is known for overpriced games and collections like The Orange Box.

Episode 2 came out in 2007.

Probably not. It could still turn out to be a really good game.

Assuming it's already out in 2016.

Yes.

Why don't you wait until there is anything concrete to discuss?

I'm not planning to buy it because I doubt it's ever coming out.
Also HL2 wasn't that great.

If they keep the gameplay and quality of story from HL1 and 2, then I'll still buy it. I'm not eagerly anticipating it though. I'm just kinda waiting and seeing.

I only played the first Half-Life. Once I play HL2 and the other point-whatever episodes I'll see if I care about HL3. I have a long way to go.

...sorry, why may you not buy a game that you don't know anything about yet?

I fail to see the purpose of this thread.

Good to know?

Frankly I don't get people and this "drama" surrounding Half Life series. It is as if there is an invisible line that people have been waiting for the past six years in cold weather and they are somehow entitled to a game that is not even properly teased let alone anounced.

Then there is this "hype" word being passed around. What is there to be hyped about exactly? You don't build hype over half a decade. You build it a few months before release with flashy tralers and shaky teasers. If anybody is hyped about this big pile of nothing, I sincerely recommend focusing your attention elsewhere.

I hear Rayman Legends is out in some areas and -if metacritic is to be believed- is not too shabby either.

[HEADING=3]Hurry! Take this![/HEADING]

OT: Meh. HL2 was an okay game and the cliffhanger pissed me off but I'm beyond it now. If HL3 comes out and is super good maybe I'll pick it up. But I'm fully braced for a bomb...

I don't remember a time when Valve has ever charged massive amounts for collectors edition. But I have good news for you, Half Life 3 doesn't exist an isn't coming out, so you don't have to worry

Oh look: more whining about Half-Life 3. Must be a Tuesday.

No it hasn't. Not even close actually. It hasn't even been ten years since Half-Life 2 for god's sake.

People seem to keep forgetting that the reason HL2 was so popular because it was revolutionary for its time. Since then however there have been scores of games with amazing physics engines, storytelling and characters. Some of them even doing it better than HL2. The only way you can really still be amazed by it is if you played it around the time it first came out so it will remind you of how much you loved it in its heyday. Not everyone seems to understand that now it's infinitely harder for newcomers to take a shine to it with all the modern games that have come out since.

For me personally when I first played Gears of War I thought the graphics, gameplay and environments were years ahead of their time so when I go back to play it these days I still see all that within the game. I doubt everyone would agree with me but I don't expect everyone to understand.

So no, I doubt I'll buy or even care if HL3 gets released. The series itself has become so overhyped that if they ever do release the next game I expect it will be average at best and abysmal at worst (see Duke Nukem Forever).

Sure i'm pissed that it's been a while since the last game, but not getting it because it's late seems childish. Whatever valve comes up with it will probably disappoint a lot of people, both games were great for their time and brought some inovations, i just don't know what they could do now that could 'wow' people again.

The best part is "might". It's not enough to start a speculation thread about a game that exists only in the hypothetical, but he's even speculative about whether or not he's angry enough not to buy it if it ever does exist.

Ok some people are looking forward to it you're not.

WHO CARES!!

I really think the half life series are overrated but I can see why people like them Its just not my cup of tea.

But I don't make threads made to insult people who like them (well aside from that very unpopular "valve deserved worst company" but in my defense I was angry and felt like having people pissed of with me at the time)

LOL all the hipsters wanting to let everyone know that Half Life is overrated. Pro-tip: Being a contrarian does not automatically mean that you are smart.

I'm excited for the next Half Life game.

Not going to lie, there haven't really been any shooters since HL2 that were half as revolutionary, nor do what it did nearly as well. Hell, the only first person games I can think of that managed to pull that off were basically the Portal games.

Yes, I would buy Half-Life 3 if it were to come out. Half-Life 2 was a blast, as was the episodic content. It's a trio of some of my favorite shooters. I can wait, there will be plenty of games to hold me over in the mean-time. They may do the uber bundle edition, but who cares? Almost everyone does that these days, and I hardly ever get them. There will be the regular version, so you can spend less and just get that.
