Why is anime so popular with Escapist readers?

Anime and Gaming probably have a fairly large intersection when made into a venn diagram. They cross over a lot culturally.

Yay for threads where every post is a rewording of the first reply.

Sorry, but where did you get any of that? Didn't you even read the OP? (S)he clearly stated that they liked anime too... Nowhere were any of your accusations confirmed. What made you think the OP didn't like anime and was negative to those who did? In fact, you are the most belligerent person here, from what I can tell.
The only thing I said that was akin to an accusation was that the OP made it sound like people who like anime don't like Western culture, I wasn't insinuating that the OP really thought like that. My opening statement wasn't an accusation either as I was just saying I didn't like "why don't you like what I like" threads. So chill, I wasn't accusing anyone of anything.

If I came off as hostile, I apologize. But the point still stands that I've been exposed to both Western and Japanese media and I found the latter more interesting in general.

But still, Game of Thrones is looking pretty exciting.

A friend of mine likes it because it is more "intellectual" than western cartoons (her words not mine) as myself and a group of friends settled down to watch Spongebob squarepants, Ren and Stimpy and Lucy the daughter of the devil. One person said to her "What so intellectual about a house that moves?" (I think she had been watching Howl's magc castle before we walked in). I also like anime, not to the extent that some people do, but I do have soft spots for certain anime, for example, I like watching FLCL and Death note. I know they could be considered "mainstream" but I just don't have the energy or the will to try and sort out what the hell was going on with the ending to Neon genesis evangelion and things like that as, in my experience, some anime's can be damned near incomprehensible towards the end. When I am sitting down to watch cartoons, I am not looking to search the depths of my soul all the time, most of the time when I am sitting down to watch cartoons I want some brainless fun for half an hour.
Give 'Rebuild of Evangelion' a shot; much better animation, a higher budget, a significant distillation of plot and a lot less metaphysical weirdness. Far easier to enjoy.
I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks for letting me know :) I really wanted to like Neon genesis evangelion and I did, at the beginning, (though I must admit I wanted to slap Shinji and tell him to stop being so miserable and whiney) I guess I am the type of gal that likes watching huge robots pound the everloving crap out of weird monsters, but then it got all weird with the ending, and any anime that had to have two endings, because one was damn near incomprehensible, I try to stay away from.

But if there is something that makes it clearer, I am more than happy to give it a shot.

Right sorry, I probably worded it retardedly, I meant what made you think the OP was insinuating anime fans don't like western stuff? I don't see that vibe at all x_x

The OP changed the post, it was a different and longer post when I replied to it. It was something like "why do people on the Escapist like anime? I guess Western culture doesn't appeal to them."
