Why is Bethesda so bad at making faces?

Here's hoping. One of my biggest pet peeves in Oblivion was the complete watering down of enchanting. I loved that in Morrowind I could do all sorts of goofy shit with enchants, like had a pair of rings that could grant me limitless flight. (One was just to hover, as the flight ring needed to be recharged periodically)

Somehow my character's face in Fallout New Vegas wound up looking really good, though it was entirely an accident, because their face-editing scheme is awful awful awful, and your character will end up looking nothing like how you think.

As for that Skyrim vs. Oblivion image....I'm still skeptical. Can't help but notice that none of the Skyrim ones are closeups.

Because they are completely insane. The frickin grass textures in Oblivion were at 4x the resolution of the face textures.
