Why is creativity so hard to come by in minigames?

Everyone knows that a real gamer lives from one major "well" advertised game to the next, but now and again they stop to reminisce on the simpler days of Carmageddon and Under a Killing Moon.
These days we tend to take small games as windows solitaire and bejewled as granted and forget that there is always room for more gaming inbetween the current gaming.

Who among the MMORPG players haven't used 30 minutes or more on waiting for something that will take 10 seconds to kill, but the waiting time makes the game unbearably long.
In that case some have seen the posibility to play cards or add games into a game etc to play games until the "important" game is ready to resume it's tedious grind for digital bling.

Finally getting to the core of the matter is the lack of imagitative thinking when it comes to minigames, and any shred of newthinking will be stolen or used by a major coorporation. Forcing it into a fully fledged 3d envoriment that would make even the most stubborn processor melt stone.
It is seldom seen that small games created for the "Inbetween" fun are giving anything to the audience, so they can load off the building steam and stop crying while waiting for Zontar the unbelievable slow respawner to reappear.

What I would like to do is mind storming on things that could be put into a minigame that a simple bored player could do to take their mind off game work, real life work etc... and by that I have started with 5 suggestions myself, hoping to inspire creativity or horrify if that should be the pleasure.

The Mariachi band.
hunting bicycle riders until they crash.

WWII a day in tutu.
Playing Nazis, getting points by the most creative way to die.

Fuming Solitaire.
Being are allowed to restart your game if you shoot half the cards to pieces with 3x30
shots from an Uzi.

Stun-gun Grandma.
Havoc in Wal-Mart; creating a disillusioned protagonist going ballistic in a 3d Wal-Mart
environment.

A 2d platform game-render.
It will not allow you to play the 10 levels you used 8 days to perfect.

Last one was not the best idea in the world, but you might get an sensation that you accomplished something.

The minigames are meant to be minor distractions that do little to the actual game. Therefore they don't need to be creative, just time consuming and mildly addictive.

I have seen the several addons for WoW, but they only add to the frustration... yet again I bought a sandbag recently so I won't have a heartstroke any time soon :p

Thank you Furburt :)

Because the people working on minigames wouldn't be working on minigames if they had any ambition and drive to make good games.
