I understand that he has made a fairly sizable contribution to the way we see phones, music, and convenience in general, but come on. Every time someone mentions his name now it's like they're talking about some fallen prophet who was supposed to lead us to the promised land of milk and honey. The man showboated around ideas that his staff came up with as if they were his own, now i realize that virtually every company does this, it's the manner in which Jobs did it that concerns me. He was seen as the man who invented the iPhone and the iPod, not to mention the Mac, and while i agree they are great products, he had little to do with the concepts. If anyone should be given credit for those achievements it should be Jonathan Ive, as the VP of Industrial Design he personally oversaw each product that Apple developed, even coming up with a few on his own. So why is it that Jobs is looked at as such a god in the field of technology, when he isn't even the one coming up with the ideas in the first place? Why put so much of the achievement of a hugely successful company on one man? you never hear about how Bill Gates is rolling out a new product line, it's always Microsoft. If the Community is going to mourn anyone's passing from that month, it should be Dennis Ritchie. for those of you that don't know, he was the man who created C programming language, without him we'd all still just be using binary. But of course we should spend more time worshiping the man who let us listen to music on the go easier than the man who ushered in the technological golden age we now enjoy.
tl;dr Steve Jobs gets too much credit for things he did't do
I realize this is a bit late, but this whole thing has just gotten completely out of hand
