Why is Gamestop getting the worst Fallout: New Vegas pre-order content?

IF you spent any amount of time on the escapist recently, you proboly have noticed the Fallout: New Vegas pre-order content advertisements. One for Amazon.com, on for Wal-mart, and one from Gamestop. All three have different pre-order content. I can understand this from a buisness point of view, but why is Gamestop, a GAME store, the cheapest stuff? Amazon gets raider armor, armor and throwning spears, WAL-MART gets you metal armor, super stimpacks, and a M21 GERNADE LAUNCHER. What does Gamestop get? A Vault 13 uniform, the starting pistol from the first game, normal stimpacks, and a bottle... sorry, a "flask." Can anybody tell me what logical reason there is to give the same stuff from the first game (and defiently stuff you can pick up in the wasteland) to a GAME store, and a GERNADE launcher to Wal-mart?

Honestly they are all pretty poor for pre-order bonuses. I mean look at the HMV pre-order bonus for RDR. You got a War horse that was both stronger and faster than any other horse in the game from the very start.

Do we even know what the stats are for each piece of equipment? Until we know the numbers it's hard to say who got the strongest and weakest equipment.

In the end, I don't consider it a big deal because it's only just starting equipment. You'll find nicer stuff pretty quick anyways.

i would honestly not get any pre order content and just have them put that stuff in the game itself ._.

GRR, seriously, I find it annoying. Just give me the stuff for buying the game. Also, can I earn (or buy if you want to be lose my business by asking me to pay for something that I should have already been included in the $60 that I already paid you...I understand it's business, doesn't mean that I have to like it). Um, so yeah...I don't know why GameStop has the "worst" bit, maybe they drew the short straw?

Now, I would find this acceptable as long as not having that initial equipment would make the game unnecessarily difficult at the beginning as a punishment for not getting it. I don't have an example but wonder if that might happen. If I hear that it does happen, I will DEFINITELY boycott that game (and possibly company).

Nostalgia is fun. I wouldnt mind playing with some weapons from the old game. Then again I like to decorate my house with the random crap I find. Then cry as it falls through the floor. Really though none of the pre order bonus stuff really tripped my trigger. It was all pretty bleh to me. That grenade launcher looks okay but finding ammo for it is probably going to be a pain. Unless it just shoots regular grenades in which case why not just call it the Rock-it launcher?

I would say that Gamestop is sticking to the hardcore fanbase that have been folowing it since release. (makes since being a game specialty shop to hold to the classic) My first choice would be the one you didn't list which is the caravan pack for binoculars. To me I prefer the ideas of binoculars over a grenade launcher. I mean this is fallout, many guns overshadow a grenade launcher and make it look whimpy even. My second choice would be for the classic Vault 13 uniform. I actually dislike the other 2 sets.

Actually If I was going to pre-order for any of these bundles it would be theirs. I'll explain, first some of it is nostalgia for Fallout 1 and 2 certainly (the flask by the way takes on more meaning if you've played Fallout 2, which starts with you being given a Vault 13 flask and being told to use it to find said vault). Second their's is likely the only one that will add unique items to the game, all the others give you guns and armor and such that are at most slightly improved versions of stuff you'll actually find in game, on the other hand I rather doubt Vault 13 paraphernalia will be just floating around for no reason.

Well, considering the community will likely create a mod/patch where you can get all three preorder specials, you can't really complain.

But I wonder why. Maybe 'Stop's hoping people like nostalgia.

Well, I could claim it on the fact that Wal-Mart and Amazon have vastly deeper pockets than GameStop.

But in all honesty, from a Marketing standpoint, one would assume you'd pick the store in which Gamers go to, which is the obvious pick in this one.

But I think the GameStop choice might be more for Nostalgia than anything, maybe even a bit of challenge.

And also, I have to point this out: It's a f---ing Grenade Launcher. Do you know how rare that ammo's gonna be in the beginning of the game?! It makes it sort of pointless to have for a starting tool. Same goes with the Throwing Spears.

Put that logic into the decision-making, and that Vault Uniform and Pistol starts to sound much better.

Argue away!

After what I went through with Mass Effect 2 - clamoring to get all the bonus armors before realizing they ALL suck equally, especially since you can't remove the damn helmets - I shall never again make a fuss over pre-order bonus garbage.

I cannot explain the logic behind such things but I will point out that it is my intention to get this game for PC thus ensuring I inevitably get all this added in by modders at some point.
