Why is it so hard to find honest game reviews?

I just find several reviews and create an opinion out of that. Oh, and there's this place called Blockbuster, where you can rent games.

Sorry for the saracasm there. Oh and if you want my opinion, it's a well made FPS. Not fantastic, but by no means a terrible game.

Why are people saying go to Yahtzee?

He's entertaining and makes some good points about games but as a reviewer, he's actually not all that great. His shtick is to point out every bad part of a game, most of the time that's all he does. A reviewer should be pointing out the good and the bad. Not just trashing a game.

Sure you can guarantee he's not biased for a game. He's more biased against them all.

So, honest reviews are the ones that agree with you? I hope you can see the irony...

All you have to do is check out 3 or 4 sites and look at the content of the reviews, not the scores. The information is all there. You just have to extract it from the opinions (which reviews are supposed to contain) and decide what you think about it (e.g. does the games weak story matter to you?)
This is exactly right. Scores are an okay metric (especially when aggregated, like on Metacritic), but just read the reviews and actually try to understand the criticism.

Grading is almost always inflated, but it's hard to prevent actual opinion from leaking through in the content of the review...

You will never get an honest review because basically what you are asking for is a review that matches what you think of the game.
If you really want to know how good a game is then just play the game from a friend or just try it.
Every game that is made is great for someone so you just cannot find a review that would satisfy your needs

ZP anyone? He seems honest at least XD
no but yahtzee is the exact opposite of a normal game reviewer. Normal game reviewers usually talk about how great the game is and won't stop with that, and will seldom mention the games flaws, trust me I've seen reviews. Although zero punctuation focuses on the flaws of the games, and i know he does mention it's good sides in a review but that consumes like 20 seconds of the review than he goes back to slandering the game. Yes he is funny, but don't let your choices be influenced by him, he has made a living poking fun at games and therefore can be known to seek bad parts of a great game, like searching for darkness in a well lit room.

"Honest" is hard to define, if you look past the pre paid reviewers the general feel is everyone will give reviews after their own taste, so you really need to find someone you agree with to find things you would like.
Maybe you could try NoobToob on youtube, a cool little podcast about games, done by two dudes who just play them for fun.

As for Black Ops, it's a MW2 expansion, but I think MW2 was better.
And the story... come on it's CoD, Steven Seagal movies have more story, I actually finished the SP yesterday and I honestly don't remember what was going on, you shot some bad people(every non-american) and then credits roll, and then they switch to a god awful zombie killing thing.
