She looks like she hasn't bathed in months.
If I had to do what she does, I'd look a lot worse. Hell, I'd be dirtier than that after one fight.

I think it's just another part of the new game's approach to avoiding the "sexist" portrayal of the older Lara Croft games. It replaces the "objectify women with big tits" with "beat the shit out of Lara and force attempted rape on the character in order to garner sympathy".

Still not a fan of this reversal. Its trading one form of sexism for another.

Actually, the question you should be asking is why is her bra strap snow white still... That should be more discoloured by now.

Juxtaposition would be my guess.

Vulnerable - Warrior
Beautiful - Filthy/Grimy

But I guess it's would be kinda hard to see, looking through the PC lens

Dusty is the new sexy.
I actually like her new look, sweet, soft, vulnerable yet determined. Don't you just wanna hug her?

ugh..... people are still on about that "attempted rape" crap.

If you actually watch the scene to its fullest, it really isn't rape, or even really attempted rape for that matter. It's like, an attempt at an attempt of something that could maybe turn into rape if it goes the worst way possible.

Its not like they had thrown her on the ground and were attempting to pull off her pants or something, now THAT would be attempted rape.

Because grit is the new "it".

Seriously though, this new game is supposed to portray a vulnerable, naive Lara who through surviving this brutal event becomes the badass Lara we know. At least, I think that's the idea the developers are going for.

It'll most likely turn out to be an Uncharted clone though.

You do realise she isnt gonna wake up looking like that at the start of the game. lol. This is taken from later in the game.

Considering that Uncharted was essentially a tomb raider clone, but with a male protag, isn't that like, a good thing?

I think it might have to do with all the running for your life and struggling to survive on an island where everything could kill you.

Now, I'm not sure about you but looking clean and pretty wouldn't exactly be one of my highest priorities in a situation like that.
I didn't say she should be perfectly clean and unharmed, it just seems to be an abnormal proliferation of it all.
Picture this: You. Eight years old. New squeaky-clean coat. Forest with running water.

Now multiply Forest with Jungle.

Get the picture? :)

When I say Uncharted clone, I mean the overly cinematic, extremely linear action game. I like the Uncharted games, but I don't want every other action adventure to copy that type of gaming experience - It becomes old real fast.

And Tomb Raider (when it was still good) has always been about the adventure and discovery. I would like to see a modern Tomb Raider that takes this as its focus, instead of being a purely action driven game.

If anything I'd say her makeup seems to have held up fairly well given the circumstances.

Possibly because if they imply that Lara actually undressed at some point off screen so to wash the game industries pseudofeminists will be in total uproar.

EDIT: The comment above this says it all.

This is realistic. Dirt and blood does not have a set dirt quotient that can get on you over time. Its perfectly possible to get that filthy within moments in the right conditions.
