Any of you notice that TP had no magic meter?

OoT was the first and last of its kind. It was the first 3d Zelda game, but it was the last Zelda from that Art and Story Style. Every Zelda game since Majora's Mask has followed the Majora's Mask/Wind Waker art/story style.
Story Style? Hmm...could you elaborate?

Which 2d/3d Zeldas had the most puzzling dungeons?

I think Ages was the toughest 2d.

For 3d normally I would say OOT, But that was my first 3d dungeon experience so it stands to reason I may remember it being tough because I was unused to 3d environments. I would be really interested to hear from people who started from different zeldas (MM, WW, TP)

I beat Twilight Princess in a few days. I struggled through Ocarina of Time for a few weeks. I find it more memorable because of that. Twilight Princess played better but the story wasn't as good in my opinion. Also, when I got Ocarina of Time I was younger, so I couldn't afford a new game every few weeks. This resulted in replaying Ocarina of Time over and over. It's like anything. The more you're exposed to it the better it sticks in your mind.

Because OoT was the first Zelda that wasn't 2d/top down (or in the case of Zelda 2, side scrolling). It was the first 64 bit Zelda that introduced many of the concepts that Zelda uses now, like Hyrule Field and a night/day system.

TP's claim to fame: grittiest Zelda and first on a motion control system.
Both are great games, but as it goes, OoT did some new things that the series kept. TP, not so much.

I think a more interesting question is why is OoT more memorable than LttP? LttP was the first to do the a lot of the things found in OoT, and I'd argue it did them better, too. It wasn't 3D, but overall, I think LttP ages much better than OoT - it's aesthetically pleasing, the gameplay is great, and it's overall a solid, high quality game.

3d added a Lot to the experience. It literally added another dimension to the puzzles which Zelda is really about at it's core.

I really loved Ocarina of Time. It just had something magical to it that separated it from most of the other Zelda games. Link's Awakening was a brilliant game as well, and had it's own magic.

Majora's Mask is a close second for me, but I really had to delve into it and understand it to start loving it. Twilight Princess is a beautiful game as well, but it didn't seem as amazing as Ocarina did when I first played it. Also, I had to wait a whole extra F#@#ING YEAR because they wanted to release it with motion controls on the Wii as well as the Cube. That still kinda pisses me off. Wind Waker was a great game, though it's graphics are love it or hate it.

Ocarina though, was like a perfect storm. 3D gaming was just starting to really come into it's own, and it jumped in flawlessly. The foreboding setting plus the occasional lighthearted humor, the memorable locations, the great music, brought everything together to make a magical game. And most importantly, it was fun.

Playing it again on the 3DS made me remember just how much I loved the game, even for it's little quirks, though the 3DS did slightly tweak a few things.

I thought TP was pretty memorable, honestly. But they're basically the same game, so it mostly matters which one you played first :)

Plus, everyone knows the best Zelda game ever made is Link's Awakening. And my opinion on the subject has nothing to do with the fact it was the first one I played when I was a kid, honest! [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SuspiciouslySpecificDenial]

Exactly the same here, my man.

It's not some weird nostalgic feeling I get when I play it that makes it good, promise! It's the innovative gameplay and the fantastic graphics....yeah....

As ashamed as I am of admitting it I never actually played OOT (I didn't have a game console growing up.) So I much prefer Twilight Princess...but only because my opinion is biased due to not having played the other.

LoZ Twlight Princess sucks im sorry but it dues imo

It had horrible idea's for new weapons and was just plain to easy. The changes to the formula they did where for the worse.

Not if we can get some fresh perspectives. I didn't play oot till years after it came out. Maybe around the early ps2/gc/xbox era, so I doubt I have quite as strong a sense of nostalgia as others. Regardless of it's age I still recognized it as a well built game.

I'm sure there are Some people out there who don't necessarily favor their first zelda over the rest.

So the fact I played both back to back before has nothing to due with it im blinded by nastalgia oh wait im not OoT is a better game i enjoyed every aspect of it alot more. Twlight Prensse bored me and did nothing new that was worth really anything all the new weapons where bad or just somthing thats been done before.

Twilight Princess definitely had inferior music. That's for sure. Seems like half it's track is OOT remixes that sound worse than the originals.

What made ocarina of time the great game it is? Twilight princess improved so much on so many aspects. Yet no one talks about it any more than a great game. No matter what kind of fanboy you are everyone agrees OOT is an amazing game. Very confusing.

I gave this some serious thought and the best reason I could think was the simple newness of it.

Any other ideas?
I know some people who hate OoT and everything zelda so i wouldnt say no mater what kind of fanboy you are xD

Twlight Princess didnt really improve it made atempts to and they where mostly for the worse and the games difficulty was just so pathatic even on 3 Hearts

Major things I disliked was the equipment was horrible they made the slingshot pretty much pointless and the new stuff where just blah

The wolf is fun at first but then becomes tedies due to needing to change for stuff so often.

Story was decent.

I hated the selection of Swords, and Shields they could of done so much better.

Its far from a good zelda and is terrible compaired to OoT.

Im not judging against TP based on Nastalgia I play OoT a few times each year along with several other N64 games

Im going to guess because it was the first 3d zelda for people and possibly their first 3d game ever. Also I found TP a bit too grey.

also it might suffer from the same arguement as FF7 vs FF10, 7 changed a fair bit while 10 was essentially polishing the FF formula
