because its not about if people eat it, its all about hte subliminal. You're not going to remmeber Apollo Ohnos name but you'll remember that Mickey Ds sponsered his figure skating, and you'll remember seeing those golden arches somehwere before, and thinking back to hwo good hte commercial made it look.

They're not advertising it to you as if you already know it,t hey're advertising it as if you have no idea what a mickey d's is and have been living under a rock.
you seemed to have remembered his name, but not his sport.
Only cause he did the double stuff oreo commercials.

This post isn't overly serious but it is something I've thought about. McDonald's and Olympics don't seem like they should go together at all. Who are they trying to kid? No Olympic athlete would ever eat at McDonald's.
(and yes, he ate all 4 meals...with diet cokes of course)
So basically he made the absolute worst meal possible.

Well, it really comes down to calories, and not what you eat. Except of course diet drinks *shudders* there's nothing good about those things...

Is there any answer other than this?

If it were not for McDonalds everyone would have the athletic ability of an Olympian and therefore it would just be boring watch people be really average on TV. So the Olympics advertises McDonalds so that people eat it and their athletes look really good.

Why? Why not? Money is money.

McDonalds isn't the unhealthy Satan worshipping behemoth that the media seems to love portraying them as.

McDonalds never tells people to eat nothing but they're food. They tell people that they might enjoy a burger every now and then.

And who the fuck doesn't?

McDonalds is far less a villain than common human stupidity and laziness is.

Slightly off topic but whatever...

Who even cares about the Olympics? The event has been in decline for many years now.

Wait, what? What is this "Bethesda and id" project you speak of? Do I need to start crying now?

On topic, yeah. I'm going with McDonald's huge gobs of cash as the main factor behind this.
Have you been hiding under a rock for the past few years?

WHAT?! BETHESDA IS INVOLVED WITH RAGE?!
How... How did I miss that... Oh god... I'm going to cry...

Here's a break down of why I now think RAGE is doomed:

Approximate gameplay distribution of DOOM 3...
97% - "Whoo! Hell yes! Explosions and demons and action! YEAH!"
3% - "Ooh! I found a health pack!"

Approximate gameplay distribution of Fallout 3...
3% - "Whoo! Hell yes! Explosions and mutants and action! YEAH!"
97% - "Ooh, I found a bottle cap! Ooh, I found a bottle cap! Ooh, I found a bottle cap!"

You've just delivered some sad news to an old DOOM fan, friend...

Didn't Michael Phelps need a crazy amount of calories each day?

Maybe he ate there.
You need to eat crazy calories from GOOD sources.

We're talking ten to fifteen pounds of veggies a day (fibers, starches and complex sugars) with soy, fish and maybe chicken on the side (small amounts of fat with protein) and a couple protein shakes on the side (low sugar, with soy, whey and/or "special formula" substance).

You know, everything McDonalds doesn't serve. Basically, it's all advertising, nothing more or less.

Money. Because as much as people on the internet talk about how much they hate McDonald's, enough people still go there to make oodles of money.

McDonald's have plenty of money and want to try to bring down their image as food that's bad for you. So they sponsor sporting events? Does it work? No, but when all you have is a multimillionaire advertisement budget, everything looks like an 'Advertise Here' sign.

*chuckles*

You've never met Olympic athletes have you?

I had the opportunity in past jobs to work closely with a number of University athletes, some of which went on to professional sports and/or the olympics. They ate constantly. You wouldn't believe it. Most of what they ate was healthy, but I can remember one particular football player who told me once a week he went to McD's with buddies just for the look on the employee's face when he'd order 4 full meals and then turn to his friends and say "so what do you want" (and yes, he ate all 4 meals...with diet cokes of course)
I CAN believe this. TO do the stuff those boys and gals do....YOUR body would need near-constant fuel to keep on running and gunning. Now, that's just for athletes...BODY builders? They're another topic altogether. THEY just work their bodies to the limit, and TRAIN. Not actually RUN, SWIM, JUMP, and so forth. Think of any animal, any at all. THEY need constant food to constantly chase their food, or RUN and hide from it. The poor saps who CAN'T? Well...they're fuel for someone else either in life or death.

Just because you have some unhealthy delicious food on occasion doesn't do much to you. It's only if you over do it.

I'm pretty sure it's solely to do with money and a horribly obvious attempt at good publicity.

rofl
misguided fanboy rage.

OP: McDonalds has lots of money to finance athletics, Olympic athletes provide opportunity to advertise product. Mutual partnership.
and besides, With all the calories Olympic athletes need, i bet McDonalds is a frequent restaurant for them.
