Because people like hearing that shit, because it requires no actual talent and is just the same loop over and over.
You don't find this the least bit entrancing?
Snip
Not really.
also music "writers" are lazy and don't want to make anything original or good wheen they can make a two beat song last for about 5 minutes. Well either that or steal something change 1 note and call it a remix

its all the pretty lights and colors

though,I can't really judge because i have the most warped tastes in music on the planet.

One moment i could be listening to 'eagles of death metal' and 'lostprophets', then listening to Bach's cello solos (i play the cello), then Zadock the priest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPkzt9vklAw) then 'danse macabre' by camille saint-saens, and then some metallica, then Bach's Brandenburg no.3, then 'nathan fake's You Are Here (fortdax remix)' then some greenday, and Gustav Holsts 'the dargason st.Pauls suite op.29' then maybe some light jazz dependingon what mood im in.

the only genre i do not care for is rap, its not music, its tribal drumbeats with a man talking about guns, whores, and guns killing whores

Easier to make, requires no musical talent whatsoever (you can make those "songs" with zero skill of how to play the guitar or the drums), is cheaper, and appeals to people that like monotonous beats without meaning, words or message.

Tell that to Brian Eno.

Well in my opinion, music right now is at the best it's ever been and I'm not personally a fan of techno, but trust me, because if you bother to look around the non-mainstream bands you can certainly find excellent bands that you'll love. Because right now, you think all music is going 'electronic' because it's been like that for every other genre where they've all turned to one style of music. But trust me, it ain't ganna happen.

It's really nice to see that a lot of escapists know about, understand and enjoy electronic music (or machine music like some call it). I find myself defending electronic music a lot, mainly because most folks have no idea of what electronic music really is (no, DJ and club music DO NOT COUNT as legit examples of the genre).

That whole example that some escapists keep repeating that goes: "press a button to generate music" forget that the music being generated was created by a human being that is not only knowledgeable in music, but also in synthesis, sampling and sequencing (a Man Machine, pun intended). And if the machines fail "it will always be attributed to human error".

As being a muscian myself, I do apprecaite a great band that has good musicians in it. But being a gamer since I was 3 I always loved music, especially 8 and 16 bit music. Even though some of it was repetative, what music isn't. Classical is repetative, so is rock, and hell even progressive music gets repeatitive after awhile. Also many great compositions and great melodies came from these games. When I was a young boy my dad played me many great musicians that used sythisizers in rock. I later discovered that many jazz and jazz fusion bands incorporated electronic instruments into their music. I guess my first exposue to electronic music (besides video game music) was through Vangelis and Isao Tomita. What I think the problem with a lot of people is that they are ignorant of the wide variety of music that is out there and merely use a few popular examples to base their judgement on. And for the record I love classical music, but I also love electronic music. I too am glad to see that there are several people here that actually know what they are talking about and have an apprecation for electronic music.
