Why is Neverwinter Night 2, one of the greatest games, shunned by so many gamers of this forum.

Because of Neverwinter Nights 1. Its literally the same situation as the 2 KotoRs.
My thoughts on the matter entirely.

However, I would put it differently because I fucking loved KotOR2.

Storm of Zehir was terrible.

Also, does anybody know anything at all about Planescape: Purgatorio? I can't find anything on NWNVault that suggests its still WiP, and I'm reluctant to visit the RogueDao website, as Google is flagging it up as virus-ridden.

Storm of Zehir wasn't terrible, it was just different from what people expected and, well, wanted. Personally I kinda liked it, although I'd be lying if I said it was anywhere near as good as Mask of the Betrayer. Did add the 'overworld' feature however, which was an excellent feature and one a few mods have since taken advantage of to great effect.

And Purgatorio is supposed to still be in the works. I remember they released a demo awhile back and you can find a fair bit of their work on NWNVault in terms of models and the like. Haven't heard anything since however so I'm a bit worried it's become vapour-ware for whatever reason. I also got a virus warning on trying to visit their forums so no luck checking there.

Planescape: The Shaper of Dreams is turning into a pretty good series, although it's a bit more linear than I would like thus far. Good premise though!

The World Map made it worthwhile imo... even if it was hardly perfect. I'd like some more games that use it like that...

I prefer Neverwinter Nights 1 to 2. But 1 doesn't run on my computer properly (mixture of incompatability issues with Windows 7 and ignorance from the support team)
neverwinter Nights is also the reason I refuse to buy Dragon Age, because I think it's just an over simplified version of Neverwinter Nights.

Hmm, it does look like vapourware may be its fate. Its hard a ridiculously long development cycle already,, and with no updates in what seems like a year...

Thanks, I'd not encountered that one.. Checking it out now.
