I live in South Ontario and it gets really hot here in the summer *coming from someone who doesn't like the heat*. I want to move to Nova Scotia eventually, and the summers are better next to the ocean.
I gotta wonder.. why the East coast? The summers are nice sure... but the winters? Ugh.
Personal preference. Sure Nova Scotia gets much more snow than south Ontario, it doesn't really get any colder. Like the Pacific keeping BC temperate, the Atlantic keeps Nova Scotia temperate. Winters range from -2 to 3 degrees Celsius on average. I don't mind winter or the cold, so winter isn't really a factor in it for me.

Since you ask, I love the Maritimes. I like the rain, the fog, the ocean. I love Nova Scotia's aesthetics, the towns and history. I like the people there and the much more slower, laid back feeling. I like being closer to family as pretty much all of them are in eastern Canada, I also like being closer to the United Kingdom. Also my family lived in Halifax for 3 years.

I could go on and on as to why I would go to the east coast over the west. Though I don't deny the beauty of BC, and I would also enjoy the climate and rain. I have just always been an east coast person, not to mention it is cheaper to live in Nova Scotia than British Columbia. BC happens to be my second favorite province, it just wouldn't work out for me, although BC does has more job opportunities than Nova Scotia.

You have excess sun, can we have some please? It's not that cold at the moment here in England (about 9°C ) but the weather is absolute crap, lashing rain and driving wind - it's truly depressing. Roads are flooding, everything is grey and wet and dull.

So yeah, share some of your sun please? We might be able to return the favour and send over a few rain-clouds.

Roundabout 0°C here. All the nice lotsa snow from last week has melted. Thankfully, after a couple of days, the sludge too. I am seeing seven hours of daylight, probably even less, all grey. It's 14:08, the sun sets in 90 minutes. Can I be somewhere else, please?

I live in the UK.

What is this summer you speak of?

Seriously, in Burnley we had 1 week of warm weather in summer ... THAT'S IT.

I wish that was bending the truth but it isn't. We don't get proper summers. We get warm weather and then back to the usual shit.

Yep. Ever get the feeling you just want to drop everything, sell all your possessions and move to somewhere good? Somewhere where you can wake up, look out the window and not see this shit going on for about 3/4 of the year?

Its not as if it's usually really heavy rain, it's just the sheer persistence of it all.

that may be true but it is normal for things to get really hot this time of year
While true, that doesn't mean it's supposed to get AS hot.

On the other side of the world, it really should be snowing here. It's not even cold enough for ice. Period.

*Looks at photos, looks out of office window. Sighs*

Yeah if only our island was just 400 miles further south then we would be set. Being so used to it, I'm mystified that in most of California it almost never rains. The people in that state shouldn't take it for granted.

It's not hot here. It's winter up in N. America.

Right now it's currently 15F or -9C with 59% humidity.

I live in a high-plains desert, so it's normal this time of year.

I came here expecting a Summer Glau love thread.

*stashes NSFW photos back into his jacket*

So... summer, huh? We had 6 days of it this year (Stockholm). The weather's crappy now. Just below zero, still a lot of snow left from the past few weeks, but still grey.

I don't envy your summery Christmas time. My family and I once had to re-enact the Pass of Caradhras sequence from LOTR to get to our house on Christmas Eve and I wouldn't have it any other way.
