Why is there not a severe overpopulation problem in the Pokemon world?

Why do you think trainers are sent to capture them?
They are captured in shrinkable containers and stored effectively online, taking up less space, and removing them from the ecosystem.

Even Charizard's Seismic Toss can't kill the lowliest Rattata, they only faint, and that's nothing that can't be fixed by the Pokemon Center. However, apparently Pokemon do die because there is a Pokemon graveyard in Lavender Town. So it seems that the only way for a Pokemon to die is of old age, but at the same time they breed and expand in numbers. Imagine if you couldn't kill rats and pigeons in real life - they would soon be EVERYWHERE, eating EVERYTHING.
Because the world magically expands and a new continent pops up every time it begins to get crowded.

If in doubt call upon the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 mantra.

Repeat after me:

'It's just a show, I should really just relax'.

Well some pokemon are just ment for eating, so I don't see over population to be a problem case and point

Has anyone notice how there's almost no infrastructure either? There's no roads (except for that one bridge in Black and White), almost no public transport and the only services seem to be for pokemon. Imagine if every shop on Earth was just there to cater for cats. There'd be anarchy!
Animals already have more rights than humans xD

Humans are stuffed into trains and buses until they are overflowing

Cows and other animals are required by law to have a certain amount of space for each

Read the pokedex entries, Pokemon do some sick shit when not caught and tamed.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, it's because Pokemon is laregly aimed at children so these are things you're not supposed to think too much about 'cause you know the target audience isn't going to. You know, just roll with it.

They faint because game is aimed for kids and they don't want mature violence in their games and because then PETA would call it probably animal killing simulator.
Didnt PETA already say that about Pokemon?

Anyways, I Figure "fainted" was more child friendly than "Pikachu was biesected by cut, and it lies dead in a pool of its blood..."

What?

Isn't the answer to this obvious?

Pokemon can be digitally recorded. Overpopulation isn't a problem when you just need to upload them to a server rack.

Mind you, this raises another set of interesting questions - namely, who runs the PC cloud that you access, what is their business model, and just how reliable are they anyway?

Are you sure they aren't overpopulated? Seriously can't go 5 feet without tripping over another goddamn rattata (or zubat if you're in a cave).

I agree with this. Though this only applies to the "common" pokemon. Maybe the more powerful and rare ones have a slower reproductive cycle, or do they just kill each other off? mnOne would think a gigantic, flying, firebreathing lizard would become the dominant species and breed with impunity.

Also, i'm pretty sure the Pokemon murder the shit out of each other as soon as the humans look away. The humans are the pokemons fanbase, and everyone knows that alieniating your fanbase is the stupidest thing you can do.

There is a lot in the Pokemon universe that doesn't make sense. Maybe there is an unknown Pokemon that can move at the speed of light keeping everything in line across the regions.

And I got this.

They die in the Manga, the Manga is actually quite gruesome...

Remember you are on about the game/TV show...why would they show the death of a Pokemon? Although i'm sure they have done once...but it was of old age...can't remember the name.

And anyway, the world won't be over populated because trainers are catching them all the time...i feel sorry for the region professors labs...

Well trainers are running around fighting them. From what I hear the manga is pretty dark, gotta read it myself.

Predation and such are most likely around as in the Pokedex it is not afraid to use words like that. Its a game meant for everyone, if all of sudden death was brought up openly pokemon would feel much more vulnerable than they are supposed to be in the game.

I often think of how impractical the world of Pokeymans is. Then I think to myself "Why am I doing this, when I could be playing actual Pokeymans?" and go back to power-leveling my 'Mans.

I know right? The only thing that would be more unoriginal for a pokemon would be a pile of slime, like some kind of pokemon made out of nothing but muck.
