The escapist rests on weekends. Before geekend update there were no shows on saturdays either. In fact there are no news on saturdays/sundays and then sudden flux on mondays to cover the weekend.
its a job people, one where you get weekends off apparently.

I mean I work on the internet so views pretty much equate to whether I get to eat or not, and statistically sunday is generally at battle with thursday for the worst day for views. Saturday and Monday are two of the best, so really its better to either post it earlier or hold off. Don't know why but that's just the way it is. That might have something to do with it.

We used to get the Sunday Funnies webcomic collection thing on Sundays, alas it is no more. And given how much time the staff put in to staffing they need some time to actually play the games they write news about, buy food to eat whilst doing said playing and interface with the mothership.

You get a review from Marter every Sunday.
...Yes, he does post reviews daily but it counts. Kinda. >_>

Don't listen to all these other people. They're just trying to cover up a shady bit o business that went down many years back, what with all their 'day off' nonsense.

It's because The Escapist sold one seventh of its soul to the devil in exchange for an unlimited supply of silly hats. Disappointing, I know, but can you say you would have done any better in a similar situation?
Anyone who wouldn't take that deal has no soul to sell in the first place.

Given how dead the Escpaist gets on Sundays, no-one seems to be here to miss anything.

Everything's slow on Sundays. Even the forum activity seems down those days. Personally I don't mind that there's nothing on Sundays. I remember when I was only watching two shows a week.

because in the past when Christianity was unnecessarily important and people were actually forbidden to work on Sunday, except the church for some reason. hundreds of years later religion
is happily unimportant but we just kept no working on Sundays. i feel like all businesses should be open on Sunday, its a day like every other. especially buses, half the buses stop running all together on sunday and i have to take 3 of them to see my friend, while on every other day i only need to take one

Honestly though, I'd guess that it's just because, even non-religiously, Sunday is considered a day to rest, for most people.
Hagrid doesn't get the concept of Sundays.
That's Vernon Dursley.

OT: Uhh... probably because no one is really around 'cause it's the weekend.

Seriously. She doesn't seem to get the concept of taking a day off to rest every once in a while, I cannot wait to move out so I'm not yanked out of bed on my day off to clean the house.
Believe me, once the space is your own, it becomes a point of great pride to clean it... though, I typically do my cleaning during the week so I can take the weekend off.

It wasn't so long ago that Saturday and Sunday where added to the Escapist Weekly Content Schedule at the bottom of the front page. At the moment, Ashley Esqueda's Geekend Update is the only featured content uploaded on Saturday. The space is empty for Sunday.

Maybe in the future we'll get content on Sundays. That's what I assume.
Bingo.

People, as a rule, don't like to visit websites on weekends, because they're out doing stuff. We just started experimenting with putting shows on weekends to see if we can tempt you guys into stopping by. It would've looked odd for us to have a calendar with every day but Sunday, so we put it on there, even though we have nothing scheduled for that day.

Has nothing to do with Christianity, or days of rest, or anything like that.

Sunday is our worst day for traffic currently/historically (although some of that is of course attributed to lack of new content) - we've tried weekend updates in the past with very little success, if not outright crippling the adoption of said content. If I have to take the site offline, I almost always do it Sunday night to minimize impact on our traffic. Hopefully if we can fill Saturday then we can start bleeding content into Sunday as well.

An interesting note about weekends for all media sites: Putting up new content/announcements on Fridays or the weekend that we rely on getting shared around to drive traffic is almost always a bad idea. As the other sites that would post such news are also wrapping up their workweek, resulting in minimal discussion until Monday - at which point it's 2+ days old and buried under other weekend summary posts. Though if you time it right for early Friday, you can sometimes be the last piece of content talked about for the entirety of the weekend...

Our content seems to be primarily read over lunch breaks at work, which also means new things that we need to bootstrap by getting a lot of early views also tends to start at busy times and then moved to a steadier out of the way time spot once it has an audience. :)

Yeah, but Mr. Dursley gets the concept. It was Hagrid who busted in there and delivered the mail anyway.

Oh trust me, I get it. This is excessive[footnote]in terms of time spent, anyway. In terms of actual results, it's never enough, because my parents have too much stuff and they don't get the concept of how important organization is when you have that much stuff in a space too small for it. They got mad at me when I deep cleaned my room over the summer because I spent two weeks getting it completely organized. But it hasn't taken me more than 2 hours since I did that to get it spotless, no matter how cluttered it gets.[/footnote] cleaning of the rest of the house that routinely keeps me from not only keeping my room (i.e., my own space) clean, but also from getting adequate sleep on the weekends.

Well... it's safe to say that the escapist wouldn't put any videos out in a month of Sundays...

And that is the best pun you will ever get out of me... :(

I like the fact there is a day off... I like to think that even people who run websites that can be accessed 24 hours everyday worldwide (Except PRNK) still get a day to sleep off their Sat night hangovers, and it also gives me time to catch up on the weeks videos without knowing there will be another to put me behind again that day! :D
