Why is your politician awesome?

There's a lot of hate for politicians lately, and for good reason. Many are lazy, corrupt, and too caught up in the beuracratic system to care about the people. This is a thread for the opposite of that. This is for the politicians that are just plain good.

Mine is Russ Feingold, a Senator in my state. He was the one man to vote against the Patriot Act, effectively making him great at working for the people.

Why is your politican any good?

I'm with you on this one, even though Brown's party is pretty much in the crapper so far, he is not giving up and I respect that.

Mine would have to be good old Jack Layton. And if he was not a Nationalist, for sure Gilles Duceppe just because I agree with his policies minus the whole Quebec Nationalist thing. I'm really left wing when it comes to politics and politicians, although I am a wee bit miffed about Layton supporting the Torries last week.

If you're asking about our favorite politicians, then I guess mine would be Jonas Sjöstedt, a member of the Left Party of Sweden, who has spent a lot of time in the European Parliament. He has some very solid arguments about restriction of the EU powerbase, and does a good job representing the views of the Left Party's voters.
