in disgea 3 ... you can level to max level 9999 and then reincarnate your character to level 1 while keeping the stats so you can increase stats again while leveling again!

this had to have created to appease the grinding junkies of the rpg world.
My head just exploded, does anyone go for that amount?
You would not believe. Don't even get us started on what you can do with item customization.

Then you'd probably like to know you can go inside individual weapons in Disgaea and grind in an "item world" to level up the weapon. (Repeat whenever you get a new weapon, I guess.) This is the kind of game WoW would be if it was single player and had balls.

You have to go through a lot in order to do that.

Now, in Disgaea 2, it's entirely possible to get a lvl 9999 in about a half an hour once you get to a certain point

You wont run out of levels and you can brag to people if you actaully get to 100.
But why not level 200, then? There be more bragging rights in that.
My understanding is that Sacred 2's level cap is 200, but I haven't gotten any character past lvl 40, so I can't confirm that. Still, at least someone's decided to forget that silly arbitrary 100 level cap.

So, being several years behind, I finally get a copy of Kingdom Hearts 2. I'm now at the endgame, and haven't even reached level 50.
And with most Pokemon games, you typically get to around level 70, tops, for a normal playthrough.
I've played RPGs where there's a low level cap, and in every instance, they drive me nuts, But what is so special about 100 levels?
I understand its a nice little bit of extra for the particularly enthused player, but to me, there's always been a nagging sense of the game being somehow unfinished. Oftentimes, post-endgame adventures only go ten or so levels higher than the main boss; so even when you go for 100% completion, in a lotta games you still don't get to the magic level.
People like numbers that are either nearly or are powers of 2. You can see it in hard drive sizes (which are rounded but the real sizes are powers of 2), level caps, and various other things. I realize half the possible whole numbers in the world fall under this and so I might be cheating a bit but the number 2 is extremely popular with folks. If not 2 a number extremely close to 2.

65535 for instance breaks down to 32768*1.99996 which is essentially times 2. On most calculators it rounds up to 65535. All the major ram sizes are similar as well. 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096 and so forth.

Playing that right now. I'm a big fan of Nippon Ichi games, they keep me busy.

I think 50-75 is decent 100 is just ridiculous . I remember Pokemon Stadium 2 saying to import you own Level 100 team. Who the hell has 6 Pokemon at level 100?
You've never been to an anime con, have you?

And then when you get to the bottom floor of that weapon (100 floors for a Legendary class item), you can steal the next tier weapon up in that class, and start all over again.

But that's not all, because you can also affect the stats the weapon gains on levelling up by attaching specialists to it and levelling it up with the specialists on, so you want to get one that can hold the right amount of specialists first, and clear out the ones it already had, and then level it with the ones you want on.

Having alot of levels in an rpg type ame has to be pulled off well. Take a game say WoW, It's a fun game but I found that it put you in the wrong mindset at the beginning. For instance, in one afternoon I'd created a guy, and then 3 hours later I had gained ten levels (Gruelling, mental, torture) but then on the highest guy I had, I was like a level 25 gnome warrior, and it would take me like a week or two to gain just one lvel, the curve wasn't gradual enough.

Pokemon games always feel unfinished after you beat the elite four, because at that point you have beaten both the storyline and the gym leaders, which are the only quests aside "catch them all" which is actually impossible without an Action Replay.
And don't forget trading. Some Pokemon can only evolve after being traded.

I... do...

Well don't look at me like that! It was summer, and I was 13, and I noticed my Nidoking was at level 98, and I just HAD to do something. Long story short, I went a little bit crazy, and now I've got half a box of lvl 100 pokemon. Lol.

Level 99 and stopping 1 exp before level 100 is better, especially when leveling takes forever(500 exp per kill, 2 million exp to reach any level above 75)

Anyone who plays Pokémon competitively has at the very least six Pokémon at LV100.

I had a couple of dozen in my Pokémon Yellow, although I don't have the patience for that anymore.

If it'd be anything else than 100, you'd ask "why level ?!"

It is because it's a nice round number, and also, percentages go up to a 100, so it just...is that way.

I think the real question is why you're playing Kingdom Hearts 2.
Ever heard of opinions? And if you were trying to be funny, then you failed.
