I've never much cared about the DMC franchise, so I don't really have an opinion there. However, I completely understand and support the reboot to the Tomb Raider franchise. It has gotten to the point where Laura Croft is more joke than character. Everyone (well, most everyone) tends to agree that her physical attributes are so over the top as to not even be appealing, other than in the "OMG BEWBS" sense. I like the fact that they deconstructed her, and started from the ground up, letting the game-play influence her look. Old Laura looked out of place doing all that running, jumping, and digging in ancient tombs. New Laura looks like she does this sort of thing every day. My only concern is that she might look a bit too much like a female Nathan Drake. But for the game settings, she looks great.
Obviously, until the games actually come out, we can't say how well the redesigned game-play will work, but I am hopefully optimistic. They've given the new Tomb Raider a good grounding in the realistic, while still leaving plot points open to the fantastic. I am actually interested in the series for the first time in years. I think this reboot is a great thing for the series as a whole.
