Why no love for Hawkeye?

When I saw the thread title, I thought of M*A*S*H and got a little excited.

OT: I didn't even know he was important until I saw The Avengers trailer.

Did anyone else think of M*A*S*H when they saw the title of the thread?

Yup, thats totally me as well. I was like "A thread about Cpt. Hawkeye?! Gotta get there!"

Damn, I want to watch MASH again now...

OT: I never really was much into superhero comics as a kid, but I was aware of the more notable ones, but not Hawkeye. As other people have said I don't think he is popular enough to warrant a film about him.

I wanna see a movie about him just to see what they do with him. He's awesome enough to warrant it, because with his weapon and costume, you kind of need to be.

Nah, hes the guy with the red and black suit. He dual wields katanas and several guns, teleports, talks to himself. Great guy, really.

I know who deapool is. Hes the one they ruined in the wolverine movie and fanboys raged.

But who knows, maybe he regenerated his head and escaped.

Hawkeye seems like a top notch character, hope he gets screen time in the Avengers so we get to see what he can do.

Hawkeye isn't that well-known as far as I am aware, and when you get down to the bare bones, he is either Bullseye with bow and arrow, or a colorful version of Green Arrow.

I thought of MASH and The Last of the Mohicans before discarding both as possibilities. Then I saw it was a comic book guy.

After the Avengers he's probably gonna get an origins movie. He's like the Deadpool movie equivalent in the Avengers universe. Movie-wise, anyway.

I was watching MASH when i read that and i was all, TRUE DAT!
And then the page loaded.
I guess i haven't watched enough superhero movies to know who Hawkeye is, but i know i'm excited for the Avengers.
