I felt it was something of a waste. The motion control aspect only worked really well in very select cases and never, I felt, for an extended gameplay experience. I loved it for things like golf games or bowling in Wii Sports but felt it never added anything to more length and/or traditional gameplay experiences. In short, unless the experience was particularly suited to motion control there was nothing that worked better or felt better than just pressing a button on a traditional controller would have.

I also felt the game selection was weak overall with the strongest options by far being Nintendo's own releases, though even those were few and far between and offered little to no improvement over the state they'd been in for years already. I will admit that in the last year or so of the systems life it has received some decent JRPG support that I would have loved to experience if I still had my Wii but it was far too little too late for me. I happily sold my Wii about 3 years back and have never truly regretted it.

I love the Wii, I can play most of the older Nintendo titles on it and Zelda is a favourite franchise of mine. I do like the motion controls too :)

While I love the Wii it has a lot of problems. Mostly that a lot of third party games are just excuses for throwing out crappy ideas utilizing the motion control, or even worse, the chess game where you don't even use motion control. It's just the standard chess game you get free.

There are games where the motion controls work (Resident Evil 4 and Pandora's Tower being great examples) and there are games where it just feels like it's added because it's possible.

Criticism on the internet almost always turn into petty complaints or hate. Then fanboys try to argue with it and the dislike of the thing (console or game) turns into a strong dislike or hate because your criticism is ignored because "The Wii is the best thing ever and every other console sucks monkey ass!!!!!!"

Interesting experiment, but it doesn't really stand up to all the other consoles this gen in number of good games, and that is a major problem (because consoles live and die by there library). Certainly a financial success, but not really a console that will be remembered years later for its stunning library. :p

Also, the motion control is poorly used in so many games. In most it is gimmicky, in others it is incidental, and in yet more it is awful to the point that it impedes one ability to play the game in question. I am fairly certain I have yet to find a game that uses the motion control stuff well.

Its not a srs console for srs gamerz.

I Jest, My mum has a Wii (Never really gets played) I would use it now and again to replay some old gamecube gamess now and again though.

I think it gets a lot of hate because the motion controls generally don't work all that well and usually lead to some frustration and while it has some great games for it the Zeldas etc, its lacking 3rd party support when compared to Sony and MS.

I disliked it because it very few games i was interested in, paying £180 for a console only to grow the library to about 6 games after two years drove me to sell it for a PS3.

I'm actually probably going to get a Wii this Christmas, mainly just to play Gamecube games but some of the new Wii games as well.

It because they started to cantering the casual gamers and let us regular gamers (the types who aren't into party or easy peasy games) in the dust!

All too too often I had spend several months waiting for them (I don't own a 360 or PS3) to release a decent non causeal games like LoZ, Monster Hunter Tri, Xenoblade and etc since the rest of the months are piles of casual games!

I love it. I've played some of the best games I've ever played on it and currently am enjoying The Last Story a lot. Not to say the few golden glimpses of multiplayer like Budokai tenkaichi 3 and Smash Bros Brawl. For singleplayer games the Wii has offered me maybe 2000-3000 hours of gameplay since launch, I don't play a lot but for me that's a huge amount of game time even if there are games that can amount to several hundreds of hours of gameplay by themselves.

Bro...not to be picky or anything, but SPELLING. Learn it.

OT: Because most of its games use the motion crontrols and a gimmick, the other consoles don't have to worry about their games being rendered s*** because of the controls, and they're graphically better and have better exclusives for serious gamers (by which I mean gamers who prefer serious games). There are games for the Wii that do try to take advantage of motion controls, but many of these end up poorly for trying. Lastly, often the controls amount to shake the controller around to perform X move as opposed to actually moving the controller in that way, which is a bit stupid. A lot stupid, in fact.

Basically you can get more consistent good content that doesn't have to bend over backwards to accomodate its own console by not choosing the Wii. That said...I nearly bought one for Monster Hunter. But I didn't, I stood my ground. CAPCOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!

I do love my Nintendo Wii, it's just that it doesn't get played much beyond the Wii Fit every morning anymore. I have quite a few games for it, and have completed them all, and I'm struggling to find more. I play my gamecube games on it too. The Wii controls can also be somewhat of a bother. There are some great games that use the controllers well on the Wii, but others just do it poorly. I do have an XBOX and PS3 (which admittedly is my brother's ps3 mainly) and I have a large collection of games for these that I've collected over the years, mainly single player games. The Wii, while it does have a large selection of games to choose from, just don't quite have as many single player games that interest me.

I'll come back to it when they finally release a good Dragon Quest game for it and when they release Rune Factory Oceans for the wii in europe. Goddamnit it Japan, I can barely play my PS3 copy because the PS3 is my brothers!

I enjoyed it and played some great games - Little King's Story, Excite Truck, Endless Ocean, Ghost Squad, etc... But even from the day it came out I was disappointed by the graphics. Not that I care about HD or anything I just preferred the clean look of the Gamecube and most Wii games seemed like a step back to the muddy days of the worst N64 games.

I was thinking of buying one for our new exercise room. Don;t really think of it as a console, but it should make exercising less boring.
