This. 21 is pointless. Just makes more people illegal and does not stop anyone from drinking.GamesB2 said:In the UK it's 18... just saying.
Yeah I don't see the point of the 21 age in the US... mainly because people usually start drinking about 13 here, and almost everyone is by 16.
So legal ages for anything don't really phase me.
Meh you can't drunk drive a few years. They should lower 19 to 18 in my opinion.Sightless Wisdom said:Yeah, the legal ages for things are completely retarded. Example: legal age of consent: 16(used to be 14), legal age to view or own porn or sex toys... 18. Another: driving 16, drinking 19... so I can get in a car and run everyone down potentially killing myself and many others, but I can't have a couple beers. What the hell?!
(This in Ontario, Canada for those wondering)
Not true. You can join the army at 16 but you can't "die for your country" because you are restricted to non combat roles in the homeland. You can't be deployed and you can't be in an area where there is any real sort of danger.Red Right Hand said:The most retarded thing is that in the UK, I can join the army and potentially die for my country before ever being allowed to legally buy alcohol or tobacco. So that implies that my country is allowed to get me killed, but i'm not allowed to kill myself(slowly). It's bullshit, they should either lower the drinking and smoking ages to 16 or increase the age you need to be to join the army to 18.
You can join the army at 16 in many, many countries. You can join the army at 17 in the USA.Dags90 said:You can join the army at 16 in the UK? That's crazy. That's even crazier than the U.S.'s drinking age. They wouldn't send you on active duty though, right? You'd just be some military janitor while training or something?
Not true, you can't be deployed on operations until your 18. But I firmly believe that the enlistment age should be increased, talking to other squaddies that have left the ones who joined from school struggle more with everyday life outside the services than the rest of us.Red Right Hand said:The most retarded thing is that in the UK, I can join the army and potentially die for my country before ever being allowed to legally buy alcohol or tobacco. Some states? I'd like to know where you live cause i'm pretty sure its all states.Gunner_Guardian said:I never got why the US drinking age in some states is 21 either. It means I can't drink if I visit.
*cracks open a beer in calgary*
It's 18 here.
Same idea with gambling, though I've never gotten the appeal of gambling though. An 18 year old should have the right to waste his money in the same ways of everyone else![]()
I never had problems when I visited the US as an 18/19 year old, buying or drinking alcohol, or getting into nightclubs. People looked at my Canadian I.D., and assumed that because I could drink in my home province (coincidentally, also Alberta), that there was absolutely no issue with my purchasing or consuming alcohol.Gunner_Guardian said:I never got why the US drinking age in some states is 21 either. He said Calgary. So my guess the state he lives in is Alberta.WrcklessIntent said:Some states? I'd like to know where you live cause i'm pretty sure its all states.Gunner_Guardian said:I never got why the US drinking age in some states is 21 either. It means I can't drink if I visit.

O.T. Thing is the drinking age is 21 and if you go into a casino normally the house will provide you with drinks and you can't really do that if you let 18 yr olds in.
