The whole "animal that talks" deal got sidelined after Dragon Ball got Z'd. Like Oolong and Puar and Roshi's turtle.

Toriyama has memory issues.

He was asked this question and he admitted he forgot to draw them, something like 20-25% of the dragonball worlds population are supposed to be humanoid animals.

He also admitted he forgot Launch existed.

Very interesting I must admit. Thank you for telling me.
So in Buu Saga the original Villain was the Red Devil with the blue suit?
I dunno. Big role-poly harmless looking Buu was probably Toriyama's idea, it's right up his alley. But all of the "now Buu is leaner and meaner" stuff maybe not. And I get the feeling he was done with Goku as a character, but wasn't allowed by editors (or fans) to switch focus to Gohan or Goten.

Clearly the answer is to keep Toriyama focused on game art.

That remind me, what happened with the Indian [I think] child which Goku wanted to teach him in the end DZ?

Uub? Unless he shows up in GT, I dunno. Never watched that series.

Hasn't shown up in Super, but he was namechecked when they were talking about everyone who could fight against Freeza. But, because Super is happening before that timeskip episode at the end of Z, he's still a baby.

Change in tone and some overbearing editorial decisions most likely.

EDIT: To elaborate an example, you know Androids 19 and 20?

They were supposed to be the bad guys for the android arc. You can kinda tell Andriod 20 didn't start out as being Dr. Gero if you listen to his early dialogue.

Editorial didn't like that, so Toriyama had to have 16, 17, and 18 replace them. Which I'm glad he did, because they were awesome. But they weren't bad guy enough for the editors. So we get time-traveling, power absorbing Cell...but he's to bug like, so Toriyama had to have him evolve. Then Semi-perfect Cell was too British, and etc. Makes me wonder how many new bad guys and forms they made Toriyama come up with in the Buu saga. Which bad guys were his original idea and which did he make because Editorial wanted something cooler.
Wait seriously? I have to admit, that that would explain why there were so many asspulls throughout that arc. There is no reason for cell to magically appear, or for everyone to be dumb enough to allow him to become supercell.

DBZ fights, especially near the end of arcs tend to be horribly drawn out and tend to involve about five 'ace in the holes' where one would have been better. This is the worst in the buu saga where we have ssj3 goku, ssj3 gotenks, supergohan and vegito all fail, only to eventually defeat buu with a spiritbomb. Similarly vegeta gets his tail cut off, hit with the spiritbomb, survives that and gets crushed beneath ape gohan who exists for no reason at all. Maybe that was because the producers couldn't agree on how to finish the story.

:/ at Toriyama's memory problems and characters falling by the way side, or dropping off all together in the case of launch.

I do like the idea the blue furry king was some kind of hitler who oversaw a genocide of the furry kind. Either that or the dragon is a racist and never resurrected the furries because the good guys always wished for "all the PEOPLE killed by x to be bought back" and he didn't consider them people .

Yeh he shows up in GT though his role is kinda minor. I think of him as Gohan v2.0, a massive deal is made about him and how incredibly strong he is, but he ends up playing a much smaller role in resolving crises then you'd expect. Except gohan at least managed to beat cell (albeit with some help from ghost dad), uub's career highlight if memory serves is midly annoying one of the big bads in GT then getting swatted away like some annoying insect.

Knowing a bit about Dragon Ball's history, I think is entirely possible that Akira Toryama and the rest of the studio simply forgot that they exist. That and the shift in tone of Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z\Dragon Ball Super made so that they would look even sillier.
Wasn't Launch one of the biggest victims of this?

A strange question really and I obviously stopped watching DB/DBZ long time ago, but I need to ask anyway for curiosity...

So I remember in the very early years of DB there where normal to be Furries among the citizens:

But at some point there were gone!!! Like *poof*, now only normal humans with the exceptions of some major characters....I think?

Why this really big change suddendly?
They finally wised up and kicked them out.
