Why or why should I/We not get a WII-U on release day.

I honestly wouldn't get it day 1 unless you absolutely can't live without the next Mario or Zelda.

That's really not sound advice, since the Wii U has neither a Mario (unless you count NSMB2Wii4U, which I... really wouldn't, but that's just because while New Super Mario is fun, it doesn't feel like Nintendo is trying to do anything significant with it. I mean, they're re-implementing mechanics from 20-year-old games and touting it as innovation) nor Zelda game being released on launch.

But I just have to agree with DustyDrB. Look at the launch library. If you think there's enough there to justify buying the console, buy the console.

I always like to wait a bit before getting a console.
Mainly because then I have some info on what's working and what's not, mainly about the games. What games are hidden gems and what big names just screwed themeselves over, But I am getting a WiiU that's for sure, maybe in February/March next year.
As for giving you detailed info... It has FIFA13 on it
