some PC gamers seem to be very arrogant about their platform.I cna't remember how many times i've been told by pc gamers that 'their' platform is 'better' than a console. To be honest I have played games on pc and I do see the advantages to it, but, for instance I play team fortress on xbox and on PC and I do like the stuff the updates added I just prefer the xbox version.I just don't like the over complication and I have been told the lag and low screen rate I suffer from are due to my low spec machine but to be frank computers are a HELL OF A LOT MORE COMPLEX THAN A CONSOLE. Plus they are more expencive I could just buy an xbox for cheap rather than dish out a ton for a pc

So could we disscuss if the pc does deserve to be top dog, or should it just share the spot with the consoles

Well I paid $350 for my pc about 3 years ago, and its been fine ever since...

Still, nothing is, or ever will be top dog. Each platform has its own strengths and weaknesses. Saying one is better then the other is just stupid.

I own a beefy PC and all current gen consoles. Trust me, one is not better then the other.

I think both sides have their strengths and weaknesses; I have a 360 and a PC and I use them both equally. Anybody who says that PCs are better though are being ridiculous, it's just that PCs handle some kinds of games better, like RTS and RPGs.

It's all opinionated. I like my PC better because I have more control over everything. When's the last time you messed with the graphics settings on your console? Yes, it is more complex and harder to deal with sometimes, but sometimes it's not. It's just a matter of opinion. Chances are, you haven't met a normal person preaching the PC because normal people don't go around boasting their consoles superiority, they just accept that different people like different things.

PC gamers (or even console gamers) aren't arrogant. Arrogant people are arrogant about whatever they think is 10000000000x better than anything you have or ever will have. Arrogant people should just be ignored.

Me no likey console war type discussions. Just saying. My take on this is that there's never going to be a resolution to the argument FOREVER. However, in regards to the OP statement, I should also point out that I don't like the owners of a system who talk out of their ass either. Getting arrogant at me about such things is grounds for execution.

Different games for different platforms...
I just prefere the games thats best on a PC like FPS, RTS, RPG and the like...
In my little screwed up world, consoles are only good for racing and platform games...

But different strokes for different folks i guess...
And for the money argument you present, remember you get what you pay for... A PC is so much more than a gaming device...

The same thing can be said about some owners of every gaming platform ever (that got released after the Internet got widespread).

I'm pretty sure you'll find people who'll stick up for the CD-i and insult everyone who disagrees with them.

It's not JUST the PC gamers. You know what the highest rated comments on the funny-as-hell Kevin Butler commercials on YouTube? I'll give you a hint. They have to do with "Xbox" and "sucking".

I don't see the PC as best. I like the customization, I like Steam and I like the fact that the games are (where I live) cheaper than those for consoles. For some people, that's enough to make it the preferred choice. That's fine, if they don't go around claiming their superiority or anything.

And, for those that do, they're just special.

Well after all a good PC is a PC= machine that does a damn huge load of different stuff, plus a great gaming Platform. And of course there are just way more games (and ways to get those) for PC

I see your point, but can I really take you seriously when you can't apparently spell, punctuate, or convey a point without resulting to excessive use of caps lock.

Try making your point a bit more effectively next time, eh?

I believe PC is better because of the controls when it comes to RTS, RPGs, and FPSes. Racing, fighting, and sports games are much better on a console though. That's pretty much it. I've contemplated getting an Xbox 360 and rigging a mouse/keyboard to it(evidently it can be done).

btw, you can't really get pissed off at PC gamers for calling their chosen platform the best when console gamers do the exact same thing.

It's a platform, and just like any other platform it has it's own fanboys.
I kick it old-school and prefer the PC for most games, but you need to know your way around to make everything work, so for casual gamers consoles are the right way.

Facts are facts. my 5 year old spare GFX card is more powerful and can output a better picture than your 360 or PS3. It also has more memory.

How ever most people will never play on a screen big enough to notice these issues. so in the long run it's not that important.

The PC as a gaming system has advantages and disadvantages, just like any other system. What gets me, though, is the arrogance some PC gamers seem to display - as though they're better than everyone else, that a game on PC will automatically be better than its console version, and so on. It's like Linux users - while it has more potential, sometimes simplicity is what you want.

People say that the PC is better for two reasons: one, that the user has much more control over their own system, and two, the mouse and keyboard is an objectively better control system than a gamepad for certain genres, like FPS, RTS, MMO, and flight sim -- although the ideal for most flight sims is actually a keyboard and a flight stick, rather than a mouse. Certain other genres -- mostly fighting games and 2d platformers -- are better with a gamepad, but while it is perfectly possible to buy a gamepad for your PC (for example, I'm getting one for Christmas) there are very few games for consoles that support a real mouse and keyboard. Off the top of my head, there's the Dreamcast port of Quake III, and the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament III. Not exactly a long list.

As for the other issue, the fact that users have more control, it's kind of like driving a standard transmission car compared to an automatic transmission. It's more hassle, and most people aren't willing to put up with it, but for those that are willing to learn how to do it, it's pretty much all they want, because it allows them to get so much more performance out of their machines. If the user happened to build their PC with their own hands, there's another level of control and a much stronger sense of ownership involved as well.
