I wouldn't say RE5 is inferior to RE4 just yet, I might just be able to love them differently, and for different reasons.
Well, RE5 is replayable because theres co-op, and much more unlockables. In a way, its artificial replayability, where RE4 on the other hand was replayable for the sheer fact that it was fucking brilliant. Not sure which one ill play more, and get more enjoyment out of, but it feels too much of a co-op game, which also completely eliminates the "horror" from survival "horror". At least RE4 still has SOME left.

No merchant! Come on... One of the best parts of resident evil 4 is the constant knowledge that you are being stalked by a guy whose armory would put North Korea to shame who always calls you stranger and can teleport instantly from one room to the next.

I played the demo and it's enough to put me off buying it - I was quite excited at a new Resi-Evil game but this isn't a Resi-Evil game.

Resi-Evil games to me a third person puzzlers with the odd zombie and boss fight to keep things varied. RE5 is an FPS with slow to aim sights and daft design, if I want to shoot wave after wave of zombie's i'd buy Left4Dead as they did it better.

I miss my old Resi-Evil style games.

Actually it is a ResiEvil game actually. It's in the title.

Seriously though, this has been more or less the direction of the entire franchise, since the first sequel. More action, less suspense. I honestly don't see how you get "FPS" when you play this. Have you played both this demo and Left4Dead? It's like night and day.

Now they give us a good camera, they allow us to actually aim the gun, and throw way more zombies at you. I simply don't see the issue. It just seems like they've made a better game.

I haven't played the demo nor do I intend to, but this sounds like nit picking but I knew from the start that it was going to be inferior to RE4.

The best Resident Evil games always have even numbers next to the titles.
when a game has a bunch of things to nitpick about (which several these issues arent), it becomes a problem.

You need to play the full game to see that there are issues.

Okay. I'm really hoping they port RE5 to the Wii, as I don't have a PS3 or XBOX360. RE4 was a fantastic game.
A bit of a problem if they tried this. Have you seen the Wii version of Dead Rising. Its sad really, a pale shadow of what it once was.

I agree to all of these statements really. And yes, I remember the old RE. I am in fact playing it right now, and purring with enjoyment. That being said, I played RE4 to death too. A masterpiece. RE5 will no doubt be fun when it arrives in my mailbox, but it will be nowhere as addictive or compelling as RE4. No chance.

I only played the demo - I doubt I'll get the full game.

...The controls were ridiculous. I mean, it's LT + A to run. I couldn't even figure out how to switch weapons at first.

heh, i dont know if id say "nowhere" as addictive. It does have a couple things going for it:

1. Better story (imo)
2. Co-op
3. More mercenaries maps
4. More unlockables

Its just the fact that they played with the already perfect formula of RE4, and took a step back. They still knew what makes a good sequel though.
