Wow, I'm actually surprised to see your 'FUCK OFF' outburst actually stopped fanboys from coming in...Must try that sometime. And now on topic, umm, I bought my PS3 for a number of reasons, always had sony consoles, my friends had them, free online. It was a hard decision between a 360 and a PS3 but I'm glad i chose the PS3 in the endd. Not that that helps you, considering youve already had a 360 and that wasnt the question, so yeahhh.....its up to you? happy to be of help :) :p

PC gaming and console gaming are different. I built my own computer mainly because i didn't trust anyone to build it, i also want to have control over what was put in. It was more expensive but i got the benefit of knowing everything that is in my PC. I ended up buying both The ps3 for the blu-ray player (when blu-ray players came out they were more expensive than the ps3) and the xbox360 for the exclusive games. here's whats ive learned so far about the ps3
Pros for the ps3
upgradable blu-ray player (the main reason i got mine)
reasonably fixed price (even if its high)
every machine is the same (almost) so compatibility issues ain't so prevalent
able to connect with PSP (If u have one)
exclusive games, though there ain't that many at the moment
backward compatibility (though the new ps3's dont have full backwards compatibility)
good wireless controller
lots of extra attachments

Cons
Need a good tv or monitor to get the best out of a PS3
also a reasonable sound system
not upgrade (except hdd, firmware)
games can be expensive and DLC content costs extra (usually)
fixing it is a pain in the behind
non exclusive games are usually cheaper on other consoles
paying extra for extras ie HDMI cable, remote, camera, keyboard

honestly the ps3 is just the 360 with a worse online system, minus about half the shooters and metal gear solid and little big planet. If you want to replace your 360 your essentialy ding that unless you really like halo or gears. (it has blu ray too but i dont see much of a quality jump from dvds)

Just wait till the price drops. Has it stands, there's no reason to pay that much for a console. Really, wait a few weeks maybe a month 'till the price drops then get it.

The online is Free, Blu Ray does wonders for gaming, and the Exclusives are all Triple A titles. Plus with games like God of War and Uncharted 2 on the horizon, you would be silly not to.

Personally, haven't had my 360 break once and it's going on a year/year and a half or so. The new 4th gen units are RROD proof and fairly reliable. If you really want to get rid of all your stuff and start over with new games and whatever, by all means...but take it from me that you won't have more fun (especially if you're a huge online gamer), depending on what games you like you may enjoy it less. And they aren't THAT much more reliable and your warranty with Sony sucks.

I'd say stay the course because honestly starting fresh is going to be very expensive and not really worth it. Sure having your 360 break is a bit of a hassle, but if you've had 4 break I'd start looking into where you're keeping it (is the area cool, dry, well ventilated? Do you have any of the air vents covered? Is it pressed up against a wall? etc). Even then, so what? You're without your 360 for a week or 2. It comes back better than it left doesn't it? Can you not find anything else to do with your spare time for a week?

1. You get what you pay for (and if you read Penny Arcade's news posts, you'd understand this)

2. No, it makes the games fit all on one disc, that's about it. It also slows production times.

3. Really? Heavenly Sword? Lair? Genji: Dawn of the Blade? Even Uncharted was kinda short. The upcoming ones LOOK good is about the best you can say there

You must be having a fucking hard time not using blu-ray because the games ar all blu-ray...
I was about to say this, all the games are on blu-ray formatt. Hence they have high resolution uncompressed textures. It's the reason why games tend to look better on ps3, even if only marginally (though I'll probably get 360 slammed for saying that).

The online is not bad at all, anyone who says that has obviously never used it. The playstation network has come such a long way since the PS2, it's not even the same system anymore. It's right on par with xbox live, and its free.

I hate to say this as well, but the ps3's 2009 exclusive lineup is looking much better than the 360's. At least as of now, 360 might announce some late quarter releases at E3, but as of now they really have nothing, and the ps3 has:

Killzone 2
Infamous
God Of War 3
Gran Turismo 5
Uncharted 2
Ratchet & Clank
Yakuza 3
The Agency

and a good few others that are scheduled for release this year that I don't know much about. Also, all the already existing exclusives on the system are gold, and most of the multiplatform games look better on the ps3 because of said blu-ray format.

Also, I know you can do it with the 360 too, but being able to set up your PC as a media server and being able to stream music/videos off your computer directly to your ps3 is pretty nice. You can also rent movies directly from the play station network, 3.99 for standard def, 4.99 for high def.

The playstation network as well offers many great indi titles that are exclusive to the playstation network. Flower and noby noby boy to say the least are amazing titles, but there's also wipeout HD, echochrome, flow, pixeljunk, and many more awesome games between 5-20$. Basically, there's always something to do with the ps3, people toting the "Ps3 has no games" slogan really don't know what they're talking about.

Anyway, flame away. It's sad that you can't really explain your enjoyment for a product these days without getting flamed by the other crowd.

Because if you don't, Chuck Norris will come to your house, and kill you in a most unpleasant way.

Titles aside, the ps3 controller is just better, xbox controllers feel like tiny dreamcast knockoffs. Hopefully one day microsoft will rip this off from sega: stop making b-rated counsels and publish software for your competitors. Master chief in next gen ssb kgo.

Some people are saying multiplats look better on PS3, and some others are saying the opposite. The truth is that they are equal on both consoles. While some multiplats have reduced anti-aliasing on the PS3, the anisotropic-filtering sometimes gets toned down a bit on the Xbox too. But these are small differences and are unnoticeable to the human eye. Anyone who tells you otherwise are either uneducated or fanboys. I know this isn't a PS3 vs Xbox 360 thread, but I just needed to clarify that you don't need to worry about the quality of multiplats on your potential PS3.

I should also let you know that the exclusives that are on the PS3 are very good and usually top quality. My PC is a few years out of date, so I can't do a fair comparison. But if you get a PS3, you won't be disappointed with its games.

Ratchet & Clank.

Fuck MGS4 as an argument for the PS3. Never cared for that series. But R&C is always a good time.

Ok, I have gone through four 360's and to be honest, it's starting to take the piss.
I think you've answered your own question. 4!

Okay so you'll be missing out on some good games but at least you can play some other good games whenever you like.

I bought my ps3 because I had just gotten an hdtv and I really wanted to open it up. I also have a PSP which I've gotten a whole lot more use out of since I got the ps3. If you have an sdtv, it might not really be worth it as the BR movies wont look any better. If you have an hdtv, order an hdmi cable through newegg or someplace that wont charge you more than $10.

I've never had any problems with taking it online for multiplayer games (I think a lot of the complaints about the online come from xbots who probably have never tried it) or the internet. In fact, I usually browse youtube and hulu on my ps3 now. The online only games (Warhawk and most of UT3) I've played are great and don't have any sort of lag or crash issues. I was really surprised I could download and install mods for UT3 too.

The best part of PSN though are the free demos. When I hooked up my ps3 for the first time it tapped into the wifi and I started downloading demos. I didn't even buy a game for a week, I just kept trying them out. I didn't think I would be buying any of the little PSN games but after trying the demos for the Pixel Junks, echocrome, and Last Guy I had to buy them. That's when I realized "here are the great exclusive games nobody has been talking about."

There are however a couple of games I think I'd rather have on the PC: like GTA4 or Fallout 3 (with it's GECK level creator) or pretty much any game with a strong modding community. Also, If you like buying dlc, a PC might be a better choice as sony seems pretty apathetic about exclusive dlc for big games.

In short, you should definitely get a ps3 if you have wifi, an hdtv, and/or psp: you wont be disappointed. Otherwise a pc will always be able to do more with games but nowadays not all game end up on the pc. Then again if you really like FPSs, you can't beat a mouse and keys for control.
