Assuming you have Internet access enough to check in every 24 hours :

- Your younger cousins will be able to play games from your games library without the need for you to pass over the disc; you don't need to transfer anything, and they can even play your games while you are.
- You won't need to insert discs to play your games.
In order:
- This needs to be confirmed, I would wait on exactly how that works since theres no way their going to let people play for free forever, I got the impression from what MS was saying (though this is hard to tell since they kept changing the story) that yes you can share your games but only for a limited time, after that a disc &/or licence purchase is needed.
- Neither do you need a disc for PS4, it's called the PSN (playstation network), use it to buy games, access to the PSN store is free and doesn't need PS+ and thus the XBone has nothing to offer that PS4 doesn't.
- It was confirmed at E3, as well as the fact that your "Family" doesn't need to be actual family members.
- a) This won't allow used games to be bought / sold; something the OP was interested in. b) At the current generation, buying console games on disc has been much cheaper than digital; Digital sales have been priced based on RRP, but many stores sell for less. As this is mandated by game stores, I don't see that changing. With XOne, having the disc means you unlock the digital version too.
So you're willing to get shafted, have your privacy invaded, your game become unplayable when the servers eventually die, all to save a little space?

You--------------------------------------------------------------------------> O
So .. I'm ahead of priorities? Wooo, winning that race :)

As for the list of downsides :
- Not getting shafted; buying the XOne will mean I pay less in the long term - Depending on how the sharing works, I'll be ahead in either 3 months or 9-12 months.
- Privacy only gets invaded if the Kinect can detect things.
- By the time the servers go off, it'll be so far in the future that I won't really care. And that's assuming there's no "Servers are going off, have a patch".

I can't say the OP will be in the same boat as me, but I have thought this through, balanced things out, and have my priorities fully sorted.

That's all I got.

Is that really such a burden? I'd take swapping a disc every now and then over DRM any day. And what do you do when you run out of hard drive space? The Xbone's hard drive isn't swappable.
Not that I wish to defend the Xbone, but after using Steam for the last four years, whenever I have to stand up and go look for one of my old discs to install an old game it does feel like a burden. I guess it's easy to get used to not having to do a certain action.

Still, it's better to go with a PC.

OT: Do you really think any amount of convincing will get you to buy an Xbone? If you don't live in the US and don't care about their exclusives, it has no advantage over the PC and PS4.

You should buy one if you want to be able to tell your TV to change channels. I actually think that bit's cool. It's not worth the Xbone, but it's cool.

If you don't care about the exclusive games, then you should not buy it!
As simple as that.
The only thing the consoles are offering is exclusive games. Everything else, the PC does better and faster.
Not to mention how much you can learn from a PC, if you're interested. Even just the daily use of the computer can teach you a lot about the technology and the software in it. No surprise MS called their OS Windows.

I've already answered that. This is why I have talked about it so much - because people keep asking. I haven't made any topics on this, I'm just providing my own reasons.

I have this wonderful hand-held device with buttons on it that I can use to control my TV with much more precision than yelling or waving at it. It's called "Remote Control"

Oh also, I'm in the UK, so Xbone's TV Integration probably won't work here anyway.

Oh, that's a dagger. I dunno, I just liked the idea of being able to drunkenly yell at my TV.

You shouldn't. Why? because even if you don't care about the 24hr connection thing, or the used game thing, or the Kinect spy cam, you still shouldn't because these companies shouldn't be allowed to take our custom for granted. These companies shouldn't be allowed to implement consumer punishing features like the 24hr.connection thing and whatnot, but most of all they shouldn't be allowed to make tactless PR statements without repercussions.

Going to throw something positive out there, just for a change of pace.

The X-Bone does have some uniquely new ideas about console game usage and storage. Being able to access your games at anytime without a disc, sharing them up to 10 family members, and playing them remotely at a friends house. All great ideas, but once you take away the need to have a physical copy in the drive, you open up the gates of piracy.

Their way to combat it? Use a sledgehammer to drive finishing nails. This is the root of their broken used games policy, and you can't undo it easily without eliminating the other features. I mean, if you need to have a disc in the drive, what's the point of digital network sharing?

I'm going to drag out Blizzard's name in this conversation. They have currently *14 titles that all require a one-use code. You can't trade their software freely, and it works for them. It works because they're not trying to have a viable business by selling hundreds of different games at once. The sheer lack of variety means you don't see them in the bargain bin until they're content with the cash they've made and start marking things down.

Yea....there's just no reason to get an Xbone.

I could easily justify getting a Wii U now though.
Nintendo has had a pretty damn awesome E3...especially considering they weren't even really there...

So yea, get a PS4 or Wii U. There's just no reason for an Xbone.
The only thing the Xbone had going for it was the badassery that it Titanfall....but that's also a PC game. So get it for PC. Duh.

The only reason to buy a xbone is if you want to say 'XBOX, TV'. Instead of pressing one button on your remote. or if you have a crap remote...you can save money on a universal remote.

And taking a skype call on your tv..which is really weird..I have a laptop, phone and ipad that can already do that more conveniently

You shouldn't buy it. Why? Simple.

If you buy it, you deserve fully whatever draconian BS comes later and/or with future generations.
If you buy it, you and everyone else who does, will be at fault for whatever comes next. Giving them money tells them it's ok.

Yeah, that is one thing people seem to keep forgetting in regards to that console. Voice commands sound good hypothetically, but in practice it is going to cause issues both for TV production and for the consumer since it can't typically identify the source of a command. The only solution is to voice lock the commands so someone can't just troll someone trying to enjoy a movie by spouting random commands from another room.

Really, the Xbox One doesn't have any kind of usable advantage over the PS4 and is in many ways inferior to it. Installing games has been the only advantage people have found to lean on, and it really isn't an advantage as it has forced tons of arbitrary exceptions to be put in place just to support it. The only people that seem to be buying it are ones who are apathetic towards the concerns of software ownership, feel that they aren't disadvantaged by the always online requirement since they have infrastructure to support it, and think the PS4 is going to flop because of what happened with the PS3.

If you're an ex-con and you're finding it hard to acclimatize to not having to check in with you're parole officer.

You really like the colour green.

Yeah, that's about how it goes in my own home. We have the Kinect, and it was fun for the first week. Using the voice commands, that is. It quickly degenerates though into "Will you stop shouting at the stupid thing and just pick up the controller already?" That feature wears out it's welcome, fast. The only time I use it now is if somebody is at the door, I need to pause a show, and the controller has migrated 'elsewhere' again. That and simply because it's fun to blow non-gamer's minds with voice-controlled television.

That's what has happened to just about everyone who has a Kinect. Another common problem is setting the kinect up to function properly, and Microsofts improvements have not been on the required space to use the device but rather the ability to detect a subject within the proper range.

If you... want to spend an extra hundred dollars so you can have a digital camera on top of your TV? If you want to buy a console that requires Live membership to buy DLC or watch Netflix, where the PS+ is only needed to play games online but everything else is still functional. I guess if you like Halo or some of the exclusives it's a reason? Honestly you can buy nearly 3 full games for roughly the same price it takes to buy a single game with the Xbone.
Are you certain you need a live membership to buy DLC. I am not saying you are wrong. I just seemed to recalling buy DLC without a Gold membership in the past. I could be wrong I am very on and off when it comes to paying for live.
